I uhhhh, wanna circle back to this for a second. I think Iran’s potential invasion would probably work actually. The US has about two maneuver brigades worth of frontline combat troops in MENA currently: elements from SOCOM and the 82nd airborne (plus whatever base security forces we have in Iraq) currently in the UAE, so about one brigade; and the USS Boxer’s Amphibious Readiness Group, another brigade’s worth of marines. The latter of the two can only shift around a battalion’s worth of troops with any due haste (and they’d have to leave their LAVs behind). The Kuwaiti Army has 3 mechanized brigades (equipped with British Warrior IFVs, BMP-3s, BMP-2s and M113s) and 2 armored brigades (equipped with M1A2Ks… the Kuwaiti variant of the Abrams, and M-84ABs… they could best be described as “well, they’re tanks I guess”). If you’re keeping track, that’s about 7 brigades worth of troops, plus whatever divisions the Saudis and Emiratis can spare (presuming KSA doesn’t panic at the prospect of a simultaneous war with the Houthis). Artesh (the Iranian regular army) and Sepah (the IRGC Army) can mass substantially more soldiers, and quite problematically, they can increasingly reliably hit most of the airbases that we’d be using to provide our troops in Kuwait with fire support.

I genuinely believe it’s very offensive and not very lefty to suggest that the Falklands should sacrifice their wellbeing to be governed by a country deep into a really bad depression that is crippling their own people all in the name of owning the Brits.

@Dankuser2024 @Captain_Fubar A lot of theaters of the Napoleonic Wars got rave reviews honestly. Starving in Russia or Spain sucked for sure. But people who fought in France/Italy/Germany often wrote genuinely positively of it.
