At this point, no one’s going to convince me David Stearns is not intentionally throwing games. It’s totally absurd at this point.

@daveweigel Why not just run all 3 on the same day. Or 4 and include NV too. I get the argument of not doing all states at once to allow campaigns some time to focus, but 3 or 4 states should not be too much to handle. Just a couple weeks later is super Tuesday anyway

Yes, though Obama's victory probably broke the seal. Up until he won I was arguing with liberals who thought there was still a "Bradley effect" and some white voters who said they would vote for him were lying to pollsters. IA first = liberal activists have more clout NH first = white liberals and independents have more clout SC first = black voters, who on many issues are more conservative than white liberals, have more clout
Darrell@HenryDarrell317

@daveweigel I don’t think this helps black candidates. They need to prove to black voters that they can win white votes. People seem to forget neither Kamala nor Cory Booker got any traction with black voters in 20. Obama only won them after winning Iowa.

@GoodFundies Other team's POV "Instead of giving up an actual good prospect to one team in order to buy their entire bullpen, how about we just buy one reliever from a bunch of teams and only give up crappy prospects?"

How about instead of sending Brazoban, Raley, Minter, Robert, Holmes and others to a bunch of different teams for crappy prospects, we package them together in just 1-2 deals and actually get something back of value? I'll hang up and listen.

@samuel_la_ @lyrasie People mostly view the USSR as incompetent and totalitarian, bad not as bad as Nazis However a large portion of right definitely does see it as equal to Nazi Germany, it's not exactly a fringe position

being actually interested in post-archive soviet history is so fascinating because you realise it was basically a pretty normal society, generally poorer than the west but with more social stability, etc. but you're expected to morally equate it with the Murder Empire

@BennyPenny18 @Annannabellelle To the user? Yeah it absolutely is Almost everyone I've ever seen do coke for the first time comments on it not being as overwhelming as they'd expect. Weed and alcohol warp the user's perception and thought processes way more noticeably than coke does.

@crunchya0l @Annannabellelle I mean noticeable to the user People on weed can be pretty inconspicuous to others, but the effect on the user themself is impossible to ignore Being on coke feels pretty normal to the user

I uhhhh, wanna circle back to this for a second. I think Iran’s potential invasion would probably work actually. The US has about two maneuver brigades worth of frontline combat troops in MENA currently: elements from SOCOM and the 82nd airborne (plus whatever base security forces we have in Iraq) currently in the UAE, so about one brigade; and the USS Boxer’s Amphibious Readiness Group, another brigade’s worth of marines. The latter of the two can only shift around a battalion’s worth of troops with any due haste (and they’d have to leave their LAVs behind). The Kuwaiti Army has 3 mechanized brigades (equipped with British Warrior IFVs, BMP-3s, BMP-2s and M113s) and 2 armored brigades (equipped with M1A2Ks… the Kuwaiti variant of the Abrams, and M-84ABs… they could best be described as “well, they’re tanks I guess”). If you’re keeping track, that’s about 7 brigades worth of troops, plus whatever divisions the Saudis and Emiratis can spare (presuming KSA doesn’t panic at the prospect of a simultaneous war with the Houthis). Artesh (the Iranian regular army) and Sepah (the IRGC Army) can mass substantially more soldiers, and quite problematically, they can increasingly reliably hit most of the airbases that we’d be using to provide our troops in Kuwait with fire support.

The Hormuz Report@HormuzReport

BREAKING: Iran is seriously considering a ground incursion into Kuwait to seize U.S. military bases, including Camp Buehring and either Camp Arifjan or Ali Al Salem Air Base, if Washington continues its military campaign against Tehran, according to Prominent Iranian journalist and analyst Mahdi Khanalizadeh and former Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki. Mahdi Khanalizadeh: "Kuwait is considered one of Iran's principal options for a potential ground incursion aimed at seizing the two U.S. military bases located within the country." Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mottaki previously said Iran could launch a ground operation to capture U.S. troops and take them as prisoners to Iran if necessary, while Iranian officials have warned that "no political border will be safe" and that Tehran would shift to a "full-scale offensive" if U.S. strikes continue.

#BREAKING | 🇮🇷 🇮🇶 🇰🇼 — Circulating footage reportedly shows heavy Iranian military reinforcements being transferred to the southern border with Iraq, close to Kuwait. The footage, reportedly recorded in Ahvaz, Khuzestan province, a majority Arab area in southwestern Iran, shows the movement and transport of several Iranian M113 armored personnel carriers (APCs), M577 command post carriers, as well as T-72 main battle tanks (MBTs)

I genuinely believe it’s very offensive and not very lefty to suggest that the Falklands should sacrifice their wellbeing to be governed by a country deep into a really bad depression that is crippling their own people all in the name of owning the Brits.

@Dankuser2024 @Captain_Fubar A lot of theaters of the Napoleonic Wars got rave reviews honestly. Starving in Russia or Spain sucked for sure. But people who fought in France/Italy/Germany often wrote genuinely positively of it.
