@60Minutes with an absolute banger of a story explaining how Trump sold a pardon to a man who facilitated Al-Qaeda and Hamas. The Trump family will make $80 million a year from the sale. The only surprise is that Bari Weiss let this air. #corrupt #binance
60 Minutes@60Minutes

President Trump’s pardon of Changpeng Zhao came shortly after Zhao’s company, Binance, helped catapult the Trump family’s cryptocurrency firm, World Liberty Financial, into international recognition. The firm is a major source of the Trump family's fortune. 60 Minutes reports, Sunday. 60Minutes.com

Aren't grand juries promised confidentiality? These data would be the most protected, you would know that AG Bondi. This just seems to be a move to transfer blame to a judge that does their job and refuses the motion. There is vastly more data than this on Epstein matters that would be ready for release with no such legal barriers. @JonathanTurley @RenzTom @barnes_law

I’m not a Spencer Pratt guy, I don’t know anything about him or care who wins. But we used to be able to announce winners on election night with ease and this open-ended process is asinine — I’ve been complaining about it since the 2020 Iowa caucus
Your Friend@ilikefoodstuff

@mtaibbi oh man of COURSE you're a spencer pratt guy and this idiotic election analysis really shows why. did you get brain damage or something? you must know exactly what you are doing to spread stupidity. LA is liberal. liberal mail-in votes were counted later. this isn't hard.

I’m a Trumper because I think people should vote in person (or have a reason if they don’t)? This was standard pretty much everywhere in America before Trump

@mtaibbi Hmm. . . man you really have gone off the deep end. Is there an address that I can return the books you wrote. You are not that same person who wrote about injustice, now you are a Trumper.

“The Epstein Files Transparency Act … sought everything that Trump had spent the better part of the year trying to suppress.” Trump’s closest advisors did everything they could not to disclose the files. When will MAGA wake up???

“Most of Trump’s advisers had rejected out of hand the idea of releasing the F.B.I.’s raw interview notes. More important, they wanted to avoid putting out anything that could damage the president.” Epstein files cover up went all the way to the top.

This is why this country is so divided - this idiotic girl has not done the most basic journalism or she would know that every time she says there is “no evidence” she dishonors every American. There is evidence from here to Timbuktu & it is right in front of your eyes. Jake Tapper using this to attack the President is also so dishonest. A desperate effort to keep the lies going. We have to face reality in this country: these people are acting as co-conspirators for those who want to bury the truth - not expose it.
Jake Tapper 🦅@jaketapper

That is some wild, unhinged stuff from the President. Welker is a good person and honest journalist and didn’t deserve that but more importantly we have a president who constantly pushes conspiracy theories with zero evidence and can’t respond when politely challenged on that.

This whole obsession with @CBSNews @CBSNewsPress @60Minutes and @BariWeiss perfectly encapsulates how disconnected the legacy media has become from everyone outside of West Hollywood, Manhattan, and DC and why Weiss is at the helm in the first place. 🧵 Most of America has to adapt when a new boss arrives and wants to do things differently. Most athletes in high school, college, or professional do the same. Most people don't have the luxury of publicly attacking their employer, questioning management's decisions, and assuming there will be no consequences. 🧵 But Scott Pelley and Sharyn Alfonsi believe a different set of rules applies to them. 🧵 It's such a fascinating contrast in values between the elite and everyone else in the country: the expectation that ordinary public or private-sector workers should accept organizational changes, while TV news stars can openly disparage management and expect complete insulation from accountability. 🧵 Makes you wonder whether the average 60 Minutes viewer believes the same rules would apply in their own workplace, or whether this is a level of entitlement and self-importance reserved for Pelley and Alfonsi.

When I talked about the tens of millions of dollars we invested into developing blood tests to predict the onset of cancer, 60 minutes skewered me calling that work fraudulent, that it was impossible. Recently GMA aired a segment on blood tests to predict over 50 cancer types. Why is it that throughout history we burn those who work to break years of technology stagnation with new inventions at the stake? Machiavelli was right when he said there is nothing more dangerous than trying to change the order of things.

NEW: Bari Weiss just addressed the termination of Scott Pelley on the network's morning call just now. Weiss: "I know I speak for myself, and I hope I speak for everyone here when I say that I'm only interested in working in a newsroom that is built on trust and mutual respect. We cannot do our work without it. That foundation was broken on Monday, and despite our attempts to engage with Scott Pelley and to find a way back, unfortunately we weren't able to do so, and so we had to part ways. We did not want that to happen, but that's the path that he chose. That unfortunate outcome does not discount from the amazing contributions and work that Scott Pelley has done for CBS and for 60 Minutes over the course of his career." She then listed some of his stories from the past season and called them "unforgettable stories."

What a pompous ass. “For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them.” I suspect what Pelley was actually instructed to do was present both sides of a story - versus only the DNC talking point version of a story - and he was not only insubordinate but also brags about it. Again, good riddance.

New statement from Scott Pelley:   There has never been anything in America like 60 Minutes.   The Sunday tradition is the most successful program of any kind in history. For more than a decade, its innovative growth on every major online platform has extended its reach to countless millions around the world. This spring, at the end of our 58thseason, 60 Minutes grew rapidly with an unheard-of 9% jump in viewers on CBS.   “60” has been the number-one program in America for decades because our beloved audience finds integrity, quality, and humanity in our stories. When stewardship of the program passed to my colleagues and me, our responsibility was to expand energetically into a new age of media technology while preserving the values our audience expects. Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside, apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration.   The waste is heartbreaking.   Last month, 60 Minutes lost its DNA when our entire senior leadership and two of our best on-air correspondents were cruelly fired without cause. Good people were silenced because they stood up for our audience. They stood for fairness against the forces of political bias; they stood for professionalism against chaos.   For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done. Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.   At 60 Minutes, we have fought harder than anyone knows to save the program that became an American icon. We owed that to our millions of viewers. I am deeply moved by the thousands of wishes we have received to “keep up the good fight.” Most of the men and women of CBS News are still in that fight. But now the collapse of values at the top has become untenable. The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable. The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well.   I depart after 37 years at CBS with one emotion—a heart brimming with gratitude for the men and women of CBS News who encouraged and enriched my work, very often at the risk of their own lives. I pray for a day when those people and their ideals are honored again—a day when sanity, competence, and courage return.   Scott Pelley

@bigfirmpartner @DylanByers Yeah, the 30 weakest years. The show should have been retired when Wallace, Safer, Reasoner and Bradley departed. Like SNL - a product of its time that deteriorated into stupidity over the decades.

#SCOOP: Scott Pelley had a meeting with CBS News leadership at 5pm ET to discuss a path forward after his protest in 60 Minutes all-hands. The two sides did not find common ground and it now seems likely he will either resign or be fired, though neither has happened yet. More to come… @PuckNews

If you logged on today just to point out that Paul McCartney doesn’t sing like he did decades ago, maybe take a moment to rethink how you’re spending your energy. The man is nearly 84, a living Beatle, and still out there bringing joy to millions. That alone is worth celebrating.
