@RunnyyH @Knive_45 @WhickTv No defending it, but also Hamas is not a terrorist organization, otherwise it would act in the manner that Isis does. Israel definitionally is infinitely more of a terrorist organization than Hamas with its expansionary ambitions. Hamas is a revolutionary group.

@bingus36069 @Knive_45 @WhickTv 2 evils can exist at the same time and Hasan and his followers are disgusting for not acknowledging that Hamas is a terrorist organization. You also lump all opposition into the same box. It's perfectly fine to condemn certain actions while being in favor of the opposition

@TerribleGrief @Fontaern @MattWalshBlog I can separate art from the artist, it’s just fascism typically more often than not doesn’t generate great art anyway (I mean look at what Israel does Jesus Christ and Kanye’s worst era being his Nazi era also adds to this) so this kind of conundrum is super rare.

@bingus36069 @Fontaern @MattWalshBlog Fair enough...you stand on your own principles..with an unnecessary disclaimer. As for me, it's not about whether or not I see them as different... I just didnt want to leave any wiggle room and I think your examples allow for that.

I have not seen The Odyssey yet, so I can’t give my final verdict on it. All I will say is that these “actually the movie isn’t woke” takes from conservatives strike me as implausible. Casting a self-mutilated trans-identifying female as a male warrior is one of the wokest things any mainstream film director has ever done in a movie, by any objective measure. It’s hard to imagine any context that could somehow make that choice not woke.

@RunnyyH @Knive_45 @WhickTv You realize the whole idea of forcing people to condemn opposition to fascism is to launder the reputation of the oppressor? Of course October 7 and the other rebellions had horrific violence but they aren’t even a % of the horrors committed by the oppressors, but are a product

@bingus36069 @Knive_45 @WhickTv the PLO was established like 30 years before Hamas... just read Hamas' opening statement on why they were founded. Supporting them is dumb. You have lost the plot if you think that you cant condemn the murder of innocent children even though rebelling against slavery is justified

@TerribleGrief @Fontaern @MattWalshBlog Sure I probably would, im sure theres some good filmmakers who would generally fit that description whos films are probably really good, doesn’t make their views any less dog shit and stupid, still don’t see why you think someone being a Nazi is so different than a Zionist

@bingus36069 @Fontaern @MattWalshBlog This is a hypothetical (how would you feel if you didn't eat breakfast this morning) All you have to do is use your imagination, then answer yes or no. A known white Neo Nazi, who hates non-Ayrans, makes a piece of art. Will you consume it if it is good?

@bingus36069 @SGillespie43965 @DAKKADAKKA1 As for mature content like sexuality: there's a difference between using a concept like prostitution or erotic dancing as a background prop to convey corruption, and putting a meaningless sex scene in your show or film for no reason other than base hedonism.

@AlmightyTrawets @SGillespie43965 @DAKKADAKKA1 You’re saying this on Elon’s twitter come on dude. Citizen Vigilante as a film is literally a grift in of itself. The anti woke movement offers no actual artistic analysis like talking about cinematography, mis en scene, directing, blocking, etc, just getting triggered

I say this with sadness, not anger: If you bought a ticket for the Odyssey this weekend, you have surrendered the right to complain about Hollywood ruining movies. Your words & actions are not in alignment. You cannot lead others, because you can’t even follow yourself.
Film Updates@FilmUpdates

‘THE ODYSSEY’ has grossed around $264.1M in its worldwide opening weekend • Biggest opening for Christopher Nolan, surpassing ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ • 3rd biggest opening for an R-rated film ever • Biggest opening for a live-action film in 2026 It cost $250M to produce.

I’m just saying you can look at aspects of existence such as sex and violence as mature adults without being a puritan or on the opposite end a gooner

@RunnyyH @Knive_45 @WhickTv Hamas is part of the PLO, if Hamas was like ISIS why would Hamas collaborate with the rest of the PLO which literally includes secular and Christian people. Hamas, the slave rebellions, and the Warsaw ghetto uprising resulted in unfortunate violence but condemning those is dumb

Both of which have the same goal of completely wiping out their enemy. The rebellion went to a school and killed children and you go nah it's ok

IMHO, a lot of conservatives are missing the Biblical forest for the woke trees in Nolan's Odyssey. Yes, the casting of Elliot Page is silly and egregious. But here's the thing: Nolan's "The Odyssey" is an apologia for Christian morality poured into a Greek vase. The entire movie is rooted in what Nolan terms "Zeus' law." That law is: "Treat others as you would want to be treated, because anyone might be a god." Now, clearly, there's nothing like that in Greek mythology. It's not implicit in Homer. It's a direct rip from Biblical morality, substituting "because anyone might be a god" for "because man was made in the image of God." Nolan then takes this rule and uses it as his moral glue: the idea is that Odysseus, in utilizing the Trojan Horse, violated Zeus' law and led to full-scale slaughter. That sin has led to the unleashing of broader globalized sin (the "sea peoples" who don't respect Zeus' law and are invading surrounding areas). This is a highly Biblical message: that sin is infectious, and that sin also affects the world at large, not just the sinner. Odysseus has sinned, and he must atone for that sin through self-imposed exile. He must also sacrifice his own aspirations to restore the possibility of a moral universe: because he has unleashed catastrophic violence and violation of Zeus' law -- manifest in the suitors' cynical use of Zeus' law to eat Penelope out of house and home -- he must violate Zeus' law one last time and then accept the penalty, which is exile. This is a not only a movie that will make millions of people go read classical literature again. It also reinforces the idea that violation of the Golden Rule has disastrous consequences. I dunno. I'd consider that, on balance, a large-scale win for civilizational values, when weighed against the woke casting of Elliot Page or the dumbass discussion over whether Lupita Nyongo is good-looking enough (she is, and for the record Diane Kruger is German, not Greek).

@RunnyyH @Knive_45 @WhickTv You are siding with the genocidal oppressors in both instances, the abolitionists said it was unfortunate that some of the people died but that they would not condemn the slave rebellions as they were a product of the racial oppression that they had experienced

Just saw The Odyssey. Despite what you may have heard, literally all of the criticisms by conservatives were entirely correct. The movie is just as woke as you fear, if not more so. The DEI casting is atrocious. Completely takes you out of the story right from the beginning. But even worse than that is Nolan’s decision to turn Odysseus into an anachronistic whiney, solemn shell of a man plagued by “trauma” and guilt. It’s impossible to overlook these flaws because the film itself is not terribly entertaining or well constructed. For the most part it is disjointed, dull, self-serious, disenchanted, somehow feeling both verbose and overly rushed at the same time. The dialogue is some of the worst I’ve ever heard in a “critically acclaimed” film. “On the nose” and “clunky” are descriptions that can’t even begin to describe this script. At no point in the story does Nolan ever transport the audience to the ancient world. You never feel like you’re 3,000 years in the past. You feel like you’re watching modern Americans put on a pageant, because you are. Nobody would be calling this thing a masterpiece if it was made by a director not named Christopher Nolan.
