This was the most profound experience of my life. I am stunned beyond comprehension. This molecule is without peer. The 27mg dose opened up what felt like pure consciousness and intelligence. A majestic reveal of existence itself. In all its incomprehensible glory and majesty. It is impossible to explain with words. Whatever you imagine, multiply it by 1,000 and then add infinite width and depth and dimensions. But entrance was not granted without prerequisite. Existence demanded that I submit. That I say yes; without attachment and without condition. Yes to existence; yes to the dissolution of self; yes to release control; yes, to all. My ego registered the ask and panicked. It wanted control. It was desperate for control. It pleaded to escape from the torrent of light and essence that threatened to rip my sanity into chards. The urge to eject was overwhelming. Terror thundered throughout my mind and body. It took everything within me to release. I overcame and was treated with bliss that defies imagination. A euphoria colored with perfect harmony of all things. An orchestra of essence washed over me and swept me up in dance. It was home. The highest aspiration of intelligent life. For some reason, stored and tucked away as the ultimate prize. A single concept emerged in omnipresence: we cannot grok the preciousness of our existence. Yet it is everything we’ve ever wanted and more. The state we long for without knowing it exists. This caused me great pain and heartache. A swell of loyalty and devotion emerged inside me, pledging allegiance to existence. To become a warrior and caretaker of life on earth. To protect at any cost the candle of consciousness that has miraculously emerged in this part of the galaxy. What awaits will wipe all your tears, soothe all your sorrows, and infinitely exceed your wants.

@r0ck3t23 Like the machines can't write in seconds what would take the word people hours, if not days to write. The value of being a word person also disappears.

Peter Thiel just told Silicon Valley it’s automating away its own cognitive moat. Nobody there is paying attention. Thiel: “It is striking to me how bad Silicon Valley is at talking about these sorts of things.” The industry is either arguing over 20% improvements in the next transformer model or jumping straight to simulation theory. They’re missing the massive real-world shift happening right in the middle. Thiel: “My intuition would be it’s going to be quite the opposite, where it seems much worse for the math people than the word people.” For decades, Silicon Valley worshipped quantitative intelligence. Math and coding were the ultimate safety nets. Thiel: “Within three to five years, the AI models will be able to solve all the US Math Olympiad problems.” Once a machine instantly solves the hardest math problems on earth, the economic value of being a human calculator doesn’t just decline. It disappears. And the historical irony is brutal. The societal bias toward math over verbal ability started during the French Revolution. Not because math was more valuable. Because verbal ability ran in aristocratic families, and math was elevated as the great equalizer to break nepotism. A 200-year-old political accident became the foundation of Silicon Valley’s entire hiring philosophy. AI is about to snap it back. The people who built the models that can now outperform them mathematically spent their careers optimizing for the wrong skill. The future belongs to the word people. The engineers didn’t see it coming because they were too busy calculating.

@xwanyex Most people have never actually met someone who is 3 sigma bad in violent criminality. It is jarringly obvious when you meet them.

This is how to explain the difference between progressive and conservative views on crime. Is criminality caused by poverty? No, it’s because criminals are stupider than average. Is criminality caused by lack of opportunity? No, it’s because criminals are more impulsive than average. Is criminality caused by a lack of education? No, it’s because criminals score lower in traits like conscientiousness. This doesn’t mean that material conditions can’t make a difference at the margins. Of course you can change the incentives and thereby change behavior. But progressives will always be confused about criminality, because they prefer to believe that every human being is basically the same and only responding to material conditions, but that’s just simply not true. We have mountains of evidence on this. Human beings are not in fact mostly identical. And criminality is associated with a particular set of traits.
eugyppius@eugyppius1

Criminality is tightly associated with traits like low conscientiousness, low intelligence, high time preference, and not having a spare $50 lying around (because if you did you'd spend it all on crack or meth).

I’ve been running Knots since this whole thing started but this clip is telling. Run a node. And run Knots if for no other reason to let the devs know that fringe use cases aren’t justification for defying what a good many users clearly don’t want.

When Ordinals was released back in early 2023, I knew in my gut it was sh*t and a slippery slope. This Friday we'll see the culmination of that attack.
