Why Anita should have dismissed @ChrisObore1 just two months into office! Coming from the Nation Media Group, one would have expected Obore to have Daily Monitor and NTV neatly tucked under his armpits, ensuring not even a cough of a negative headline about his boss saw the light of day. But instead of managing the media storm, he watched it rain heavily on Parliament and then responded by suspending the very media houses from covering parliamentary proceedings. That was like failing to stop a leak in your roof, then banning rain from falling! A seasoned media handler knows the game is won through strategy, relationships, and influence not panic. If Obore was truly the “communications guru” people claimed him to be, he would have been busy neutralizing damaging stories before they reached the printing press. Instead, he appeared shocked every morning by the same newspapers he once worked for. #AnitaAmong

This is absurd! Ugandans we need an accountable parliament. But we so not need a captive parliament in the armpits of the executive, military and/or ruling family. It will be a sterile institution.

In Uganda, every Member of Parliament (MP) gets Shs 315,000,000 from the government to buy a new luxury car. In the USA, Members of Congress do not get free money to buy cars. They must use their own salary or their own money to buy a vehicle.. While our leaders drive expensive SUVs paid for by the taxpayer, many of our schools do not have enough desks and our hospitals do not have enough beds. Is it right for the government to buy luxury cars for leaders while the people are struggling? 🇺🇬 🤔

Is this real, in the 21st century? Do the men at this table feel any discomfort that an entire selection process has produced not a single woman? Or has such exclusion become so normal that it goes unquestioned? Surely the world’s leading powers, including China and the United States, can lead by example and bring their very best to the table. Their best unquestionably includes women.

Whereas leadership change in Parliament is an abdolute necessity, Ugandans should be wary of this kind of "endorsement" of alternative candidates for speaker. Under the constitution, the Speaker's office is supposed to be an independent and autonomous pillar of state. Red flag!
