@hazelflag @richbarrac Good points but there begins to be an artificiality in her performances that keeps growing. By the end of the 40s I feel she’s Ginger playing Ginger. I don’t expect her to keep playing the girl next door but … (Also I thought Roxie hart was 39 not 42 so I’ll backtrack on that)

@blogappetit @richbarrac I can see what you mean, but frankly some of her after Kitty Foyle performances are superb. She's Carole Lombard level in The Major and the Minor, wildly daring in Roxie Hart, restrained in I'll Be Seeing You . True she's not the girl next door anymore, but I don't mind.

My partner and I are hosting our first Shabbat dinner at home since we moved to South Florida! He is excited. I am horrified. I am TOO introverted for such a fête. But I will prevail, I hope! I already cooked a feast — but how to entertain 10 people? I’m stumped.

@richbarrac @hazelflag I love her but find post Kitty Foyle she starts to lose her naturalness and I feel she is now playing the part of Ginger Rodger’s playing a part. Certainly other actors’ performances evolve, but her later ones seem more self conscious and less appealing

@hazelflag I agree with that but I don’t see the same dissolution of their performances as I do with Ginger Roger’s, again someone who I admire greatly thru the 30s and early 40s
