@TheKyleDe I appreciate it. Helps me cope. Just wondering what they’re doing with all that cap space and no depth across the Oline

Mike McDaniel has never had two guards grade above 60 in the same year. Not once in five seasons. The Chargers' guard room isn't a hole to fill. It's on brand. Full breakdown with PFF data across every McDaniel OL ⬇️ stormcloud.blog/the-guard-spot…

In a vacuum, a ravens descendent GM pairing up with a Shanahan disciple OC and not spending free agent resources at guard is not surprising. The problem is this is a results based business and the Chargers interior offensive line is the primary reason they have been one and done in playoffs the last two years. Biadasz + the new scheme will likely result in better play overall but they definitely missed out on a real chance to nuke the problem this offseason and even let guys who wouldn’t count against the comp pick formula pass them by… Tough to keep giving the benefit of the doubt to a regime that has yet to deliver on any of their promises to fix the OL.

Charlie Kolar (88) is going to be an excellent addition as the Chargers main blocking TE. He particularly excels in situations where he is setting the edges and can more than handle his own against EDGEs. Also is physical enough to block DT’s on combo blocks and consistently does a great job detaching at the second level as well. Really fired up about this signing!

Tuli should benefit from signings like this. An elite handfighter who plays with good leverage who can collapse a pocket and do the dirty work. Nobody on the #chargers benefits more from QBs scrambling from collapsed pockets more than Tuli Tomlinson is never going to light up a stat sheet. But it takes a lot of horsepower to top him.
Ian Rapoport@RapSheet

The #Chargers have signed massive DL Dalvin Tomlinson, per his agents @_SportsTrust. He gets a 1-year, $7.5M deal with $6M fully guaranteed.

Thunder Down Under Chargers Podcast
Big question to consider: How much does the Shanahan Tree value the Guard position? - McDaniel hand picks Cole Strange to be his starting RG (below average starter) - Chargers do not pursue Elgton Jenkins, Vera-Tucker or other popular names in free agency - Brett Kollmann posts a video (below) preaching the importance of Elite Tackles in this scheme. Chargers have Slater and Alt - Chargers sign an above average starting Center who can reach block. That's important in this scheme. - Pulling Guards are key components in Power, Counter & Trap schemes which are not major features of the Shanahan scheme, but were important in Greg Roman's Does McDaniel think his scheme can mainly 'protect' Herbert in pass pro (screens, rollouts, moving the pocket) and Guard is one area where he is happy to survive with mediocrity? Interesting to think about. if former players have views, shout out. Can anyone point to elite Guards in any of the schemes that have stayed true to the outside zone Shanahan principles (excluding McVay who has pivoted to more Gap recently)?

Chargers fans are gonna have to understand how Mike McDaniel builds his offense. He’d 100% rather have Ingold, an athletic center in Biadasz, and blocking TE in Kolar than spend big on guards. He doesn’t value pass pro much I think LA is having one of the best free agencies. Got him exactly what he wants

Chargers should be getting a 3rd for Odafe and a 4th for Zion. It’s a little telling that both the Ravens/Minter and the Chargers had an EDGE need, and neither reunited with Odafe.
Ari Meirov@MySportsUpdate

BREAKING: The #Commanders are signing DE Odafe Oweh to a 4-year, $100M deal, per @AdamSchefter. Oweh exploded for 10.5 sacks with the Chargers (including playoffs) after being acquired in a trade from Baltimore.

So incredibly cool that the WBC made it to Puerto Rico this time around — especially for moments like this. Having Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic as host sites should be a must for the tournament going forward.

Khalil Mack's 1 year, $18M fully guaranteed extension to remain with the #Chargers secures him over $205M earned on the field in 13 NFL seasons, the most by a defensive player in NFL history.
