@MikeHall2018 @JonFraserTF The official languages act doesn't require either of them to be fluent and none of the complaints were due to fluency. It requires official messages to be in both official languages. Rousseau could have released a written statement in both official languages and no complaints.

@JonFraserTF All seems odd to me given our national PM is FAR from fluid in French. Remember that he struggled through one French debate and cancelled a second. I was astonished that Quebecers even voted for him given that obvious flaw. The Province can ignore the language issue when needed

Going on a homophobic rant will get you fired from just about any job so idk why anyone would think the NBA would be any different.

@BuzzedEdwin @jeremymonline @JoeskeeBroskee @DefaultReece The burden of proof is on you, not me. I think it is equally pathetic and hilarious that you think the NBA paid Charles Barkley and Dick Bivetta to kiss to help forward a LGBTQ agenda. A retired player in I believe his 50s at the time and a 75 year old referee.

@jerry_tkachuk @JDWarren1000 @Pro__Trading Part of the problem is you are minimizing Ivey's comments to just disparaging LGBTQ. He disparaged other players and their Catholicism. Would you defend a Muslim who disparaged Christianity like Ivey did Catholicism?

@JDWarren1000 @Pro__Trading It should not matter when it comes to the individual's right to free speech. Let's reverse the situation; if Kerr made disparaging comments regarding LGBTQ, and Ivey spoke at a No Kings rally, which one would you want punished?

The NBA allows Steve Kerr to do press conferences and turn them into political speeches with the NBA logo in the background. He calls the president Hitler. He calls federal law-enforcement Nazis. They do nothing to him. Jaden Ivey expresses his Christian views on his personal social media and he's fired within an hour.

@CollinRugg The things that got him released could have been said by a Muslim, an Atheist, a Catholic or any other religion. He wasn't released because he believes "he is alive is God", he was released because he said derogatory things about other religions, his own team and players.

BREAKING: The Chicago Bulls are waiving Jaden Ivey after he spoke out against the NBA for promoting 'Pride Month' and unrighteousness, according to ESPN. Ivey recently announced that he was alive in Christ. "They proclaim Pride Month in the NBA. They show it to the world. They say, 'Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.'" "They proclaim it on the billboards, they proclaim it in the streets, unrighteousness." He said nothing wrong.

@shouse416 @TukiFromKL It was part of the privatization of Air Canada that it needed to keep its headquarters in Quebec and that it would remain bound by the official languages act. Michael Rousseau knows all this and knew it when he took the job as CEO and agreed to learn French.

@TukiFromKL Oh fuck off. Air Canada is no longer a Crown Corporation, it is a publicly-traded company. If Quebec so desperately wanted to choose the CEO of a private company then the Caisse Depot should buy a majority share and install their own CEO…this is more banana-republic Quebec crap

🚨 Do you understand why the Air Canada CEO just resigned.. he posted a condolence video.. in English only.. in Canada.. here's why that's not as simple as it sounds.. Canada has been fighting over two languages for 250 years.. the French were there first.. the British conquered them in 1763.. and for the next two centuries French Canadians watched their language, culture and identity get slowly squeezed out.. by 1969 it had gotten so bad that Trudeau Sr. had to pass the Official Languages Act.. making English and French equally official.. legally mandating bilingual communication for any federally regulated institution.. Air Canada is a federally regulated institution.. then came the 1995 Quebec independence referendum.. 50.6% voted to stay in Canada.. by 54,000 votes.. the country came within a single percentage point of splitting in half.. over language.. so when the CEO of the national airline posts a condolence video in English only.. it's not a PR mistake.. it's walking into 250 years of open wounds without looking down.. Canada almost split in half over this exact thing 30 years ago.. and the man running the national airline had absolutely no idea.

@teririch @AirCanada @ianabailey He broke the law and his own company's policies, how is that not doing anything wrong? Whether you like it or not, the Official Languages Act is the law and Air Canada privatization specifically stipulated that they continue to be bound by that law.

@DahliaKurtz She didn't violate the official languages act and released her message in both official languages. What would her summons be for?

Hi Mark Carney, You slammed Air Canada’s CEO for English-only condolences — then had him summoned to Ottawa, as he helped thousands grieve their lost heroes. He’s now “retiring.” The Governor General doesn’t speak French either. Where’s her summons and public rebuking, Mark?

@brianlilley He didn't meet the requirements of his job and violated his own company's policies and guidelines while likely violating the law. He wasn't required to release a video if French isn't adequate, a written message in both official languages would have been perfectly acceptable.

Michael Rousseau has been cancelled due to a crass fight over language politics. Forget the tragedy of the crash, forget Rousseau’s work to have Air Canada recover to record revenue post-pandemic. He didn’t speak French, so he’s gone. torontosun.com/opinion/column…

#Broncos STC Darren Rizzi is again here at NFL annual meetings as point man to kickoff return tweaks. The league will drop one man off 40-yard scrimmage line to a safety-like blocker to perhaps impede full-speed tackler. Health deal as tackler and returner were still getting banged up. Rizzi proposed this formation 3 years ago. Also onside kicks at any point in game up for vote. Would think it will pass.

The failure of relying on numbers is when they get thrown back in your face…KG, when they finally won a series in Minnesota which was only in ‘04 wasn’t even the 2nd best player on the team …he was 3rd. If it wasn’t for Sam and Sprewell they don’t win a single series…when your eFG% is 45%, it means offensively you don’t adjust or don’t know how to…you get exploited for your shortcomings…

@YuruYurilicious @VEEPILF He is the PM and is required to use RCAF for all travel. For personal travel, he will need to reimburse the equivalent of a commercial flight, as per Canadian law.

@CB0887134787920 @VEEPILF He is required to fly on government aircraft for security reasons, he isn't choosing to expense the trip. He will also reimburse the equivalent cost of commercial air fare which is also the requirement for personal trips. Every PM has followed the same rules for decades.

@BlakeMurphyODC I don't know what happened to his shot but he will need to figure it out this offseason. His shooting the last 3 months or so doesn't feel sustainable. If this works for the Raptors offense, it should open an opportunity for Hepburn next season.

@jonmorosi @BlueJays One of the best pre-game ceremonies of that type that I have seen. They found a way to perfectly capture the unique connection between the 2025 team, their families and the fan base. You can see how much it all means to everyone involved in the organization and the effort put in.
