If you’ve been hurt by church shepherds and just want to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd again, this book directs your heart there. Don’t give up on the church. Jesus didn’t.

I appreciate thoughtful assessments like this. I appreciate the critiques Pastor Tim offers of me and the CIBC approach. bradhambrick.com/renewed/

"There's a move that keeps getting made in biblical counseling: if you're not classical BC, you're not a biblical counselor. No middle ground. No spectrum. That binary isn't working. @Pastor_Ken_CBC @DanielSylv1 @sevier_nick Brad Hambrick and I had a two hour lunch where we talked BC shop. He clarified and explained- I did the same- it was the “debate before the debate” over tacos- it was a delightful afternoon. He’s not nouthetic BC, but he’s closer than many think & humble enough to still learn.

I'm starting to see Clinically Informed and Trauma Informed counselors change their websites and bios to show less "integrative" language. It's happening quietly and subtly and it's a shame to see. If this is you, I'd encourage you to clarify your shift with integrity.

My hope is that these books serve as "counseling Legos" for churches. I want them to be building blocks that your church can use like the "picture on the box" (i.e., what we do at Summit) or get creative and use them as serves your context best.

Van Til on common grace: "This does not mean that no use whatsoever can be made of the interpretations given by non-Christian men of the facts of God’s revelation to them. Although not according to their innate principle of rebellion against God but in spite of it, when the “light of nature,” the revelation of God, shines through to them in spite of themselves, they have been able to speak much truth." - Van Til, Cornelius. For biblical counseling to be transformational it must be gospel-centered. I'm thankful for @wagner_floriani and Katie Boomer joining me for this 101 level biblical counseling conversation as we kick off season 2 of CtC! open.spotify.com/episode/1FQTbj…

This from Calvin’s Institutes remains thought provoking. Imagine, if you will, stumbling upon some common grace truth discovered by a pagan, rejecting it due to the source out of a desire to be faithful to God, only to discover that you had offended the Spirit in so doing. 🤯
