@SHUNCK Good memories. Thanks Steve. Let me add my favorite front row from 1965: comprised of two Indy winners and the guy who was a teammate to both winners and helped Indy to evolve in a successful rear-engine revolution. Remember listening to that race on a scratchy transistor radio.

It's 24 hours until Thanksgiving food etc. needs to be on the table served & you are starting w/ nothing, zilch, from scratch
Which #Indy500 Front Row are you choosing to buy Turkey, sides, booze & pies? They need to buy it ($750 given to them), cook it & entertain you at dinner

Who remembers Gordy’s custom Bell helmet. He was ahead of the curve on driver debris protection 😉👍🏻@jlcooke99 @ndcar @mjbyers333 @Cosito1Horacio @Chad__15 @marshallpruett @Hilts_the_Husky @brickline

The F4U-1 Corsair "Ole 122" of VMF-111 Devil Dogs was the only individual U.S. warplane to be cited officially for "performance above and beyond the call of duty" during WWII. Over a 6 month period in 1944, "Ole 122" flew 80,000 miles in 100 combat missions and spent 400 hours in the air with never once having to turn back because of mechanical trouble. The citation also stated: "Were there blood in her fuel lines instead of one hundred octane, she would be wearing the Purple Heart."

"Frank Robinson slid into third base hard, like he always does no matter what the score may be & into Eddie Matthews. Matthews jumped on top of Frank & punched him in the eye. It swelled out to here & nobody thought Frank could possibly play the second game of a double header that day. But when the game started, there was Frank in the lineup. Not only did he hit a home run to win the game, but he also made a catch and fell into the left field stands, on a ball that Matthews hit, incidentally, that saved the game. Frank got a standing ovation & I guess that's one of the biggest thrills I've ever felt in baseball"

Story by Mark Grace....
"Rick Sutcliffe gave up back-to-back HR`s in Cincinnati. And in Cincinnati, they shoot off fireworks after a Red hits a HR. Sutcliffe was pretty intense on the day he pitched. So Eric Davis takes him deep & Paul O'Neill takes him deep right after that. So Sutcliffe is all mad, & pitching coach Billy Connors comes out to the mound & Sutcliffe yells at him "I know I gave up back-to-back home runs, but get your ass back in the dugout and tell Zimmer to settle down too!"
Billy looks at him & says, "I know you have everything under control, Rick. I just wanted to give that guy running the fireworks a little more time to reload."

After I won 21 games, I said, "This isn't that hard actually. I can do this every year for maybe 10, 15 years". To tell you the truth I thought I was going to be in the HOF. I really thought that. You feel so strong, so powerful walking down the street. You know you can throw a ball harder than any man in the world, or certainly the top five. Sandy Koufax knocked all of us out of the box on that one, so we would think, "I'm the second or third hardest thrower in the game."

**An Important Father's Day Update**
On this Father's Day, I wanted to share a significant personal update. After enduring two challenging years of navigating the hellscape that is our family court system I have been vindicated. Since November of last year, I have had a more favorable custody arrangement than ever before. All my rights have been fully restored. Shared legal and physical custody. And thank God for that.
Shortly thereafter, I adopted Melanie’s daughters, making me officially a Dad of 5 amazing kids. Each moment spent as their father fills me with immense joy.
The journey to this point has been arduous, and I never imagined I would have to fight so hard simply to be a father. However, life often presents us with unexpected challenges, and as difficult as those can be, we have to face them with resolute spirit and hope.
Becoming a parent introduces a profound fear—the fear of something happening to our children. It is a fear that penetrates to the core of our being. To our very soul, really. Life is unpredictable, and as parents, we will inevitably encounter moments of uncertainty, helplessness & outright despair. My own custody battle in November 2021 was such a moment for me.
Despite the difficulties, one truth remains: never, ever give up on your children. Ensure they know the depth of your love and your unwavering commitment to them. Even if you do not have all the answers or feel unsure of the right course of action, your presence is what matters most. Being present, whether physically or emotionally, signals to your children that you are with them in every struggle.
To the fathers navigating the family court system who may be deprived of your children’s company today, I deeply empathize with your pain. It is a hell that I would not wish upon my worst enemy. Stay strong.
If you can’t afford an attorney, so what. Represent yourself. As a father in family court the deck will always be stacked against you. There will be many unjust moments when you feel like quitting. Don’t.
Continue to fight for your children and persevere through the difficulties. The hell will end. Just hang in there.
To all the fathers who cherish their sacred role, who protect and provide for their families, God bless you. Your dedication makes America a better place.
Happy Father’s Day.
