Very proud of @jgi ‘s new tool #geNomad to identify #plasmids and #virus, developed by @apcamargo_ and team including @simroux_virus and @MicrobiomeData. New era for #MGE discovery. nature.com/articles/s4158…
National Microbiome Data Collaborative@MicrobiomeData

Researchers at @jgi have developed geNomad, a tool to quickly and accurately identify mobile genetic elements like plasmids and viruses. Learn more about geNomad in our most recent blog post: buff.ly/3t82Jyt (@kyrpides, @apcamargo_ @simroux_virus)

Affirmative action was never a complete answer in the drive towards a more just society. But for generations of students who had been systematically excluded from most of America’s key institutions—it gave us the chance to show we more than deserved a seat at the table. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision, it’s time to redouble our efforts.

I wanted to share some of my thoughts on today's Supreme Court decision on affirmative action:

Excited to see our @CellCellPress Resource article out in print today: "Ultra-deep sequencing of Hadza hunter-gatherers recovers vanishing gut microbes." doi.org/10.1016/j.cell… . This article presents a deep dive into the impact of industrialization on the gut microbiome (1/5)

M Carter, @MattagenOlmics, @bryan_d_merrill and @GutBugs2 team members have generated a fantastic resource for the metagenomics community. Data available publicly. Use the data responsibly. Lots of novel insights yet to emerge from this dataset. Glad to make a small contribution.

Excited to share our work using phages to identify bacterial pathogens in sepsis. Because phages are highly specific for their bacterial hosts, they offer strain-level resolution that could enhance cell free DNA diagnostics nature.com/articles/s4156…

Our collaboration with Yingfei Ma's group on gut phage culturomics is published in Cell Host&Microbe! The Gut Phage Isolates Collection (GPIC) expands the diversity of cultured gut phages and provides a valuable resource for human microbiome engineering. cell.com/cell-host-micr…

For people asking how to help.🙏 Thank you. I can recommend this campaign by @tphilanthropy. It’s an established US NGO with a track record and on the ground presence. I know their work. Devastating. So many millions affected in harsh winter conditions. donate.tpfund.org/campaign/tpf-g…

@apopetosis @Stanford No, that's awful! This happened to us (and several friends) a few years back, when we lived in an EV lowrise. Housing let us occupy a nearby unit while they did repairs AND gave us free dining hall meals for a week. You deserve no less!
