@Neil_Littlewood @labour_first Yes, because it lookedv like the mayor seat would struggle. But things have changed, reform look weaker over £5 million and the party is in a better place. At the time, we needed to keep the mayor seat and the candidate for Gorton and Denton was a good Labour candidate.

Few questions have been raised about my record on the NEC, so here are just a few of the things I've worked on over the past four years:
➡️ Oversaw two cohorts of the Bernie Grant Programme, helping train 60 Black activists.
➡️ Interviewed more than 300 parliamentary and local government candidates, many of whom are now councillors, mayors and MPs.
➡️ Voted to implement the EHRC recommendations to root out antisemitism from the Labour Party.
➡️ Broadened the terms of reference of the NEC Equalities Committee so that class and socio-economic background are given greater consideration alongside protected characteristics.
➡️ Worked to revive BAME Labour, with more to say on that soon.
➡️ Currently supporting disabled members to secure a free shuttle bus service around Liverpool during Labour Conference.
Will everyone agree with every decision I've made? Of course not. That's the nature of serving on the NEC. But I've always tried to act in what I believe is the best interests of the Labour Party and its members.

As someone who has worked as a chef all my life, this is big news. Pubs are the first job many young people get, they build confidence and set young people up for future work. This will help pubs stay part of the community.

For too long, people have said that cheaper transport isn't an option.
I don't accept that.
l've done it before and now I'm doing it again: a £2 cap on bus fares for millions across the country.

Today, Labour promise to bring bus trips back to £2. Thats £10 a week off your trip to school, work or those daily trips. For a person going to work on the bus everyday 253 working days in a standard year is a £506 saving a year...
