In this instance, less than 0.5% of the ball has actually touched zone. It does't seem justifiable to reverse the umpire's call. The ABS system calculates inches & surface data. I think the rules should be adjusted, so that 25% of the ball must be in the zone for a strike.

I still think it's stupid because the rule treats a ball that touches a base and a ball that is touched by a player differently, even if the center of the ball is exactly the same distance from the foul line.

@caldernet @BenVerlander If a ball hits fair territory first, it could (denying physics) roll foul by 5 feet then veer back and hit the bag and it would in fact be fair. If it's in foul territory and is touched by anyone or anything, it's foul.

This ball should have been foul, but if the ball had continued to roll and brushed the bag at 3rd, it would have been a fair ball .... illogically.

Today that ball should have been foul, but had it continue to roll parallel to the line, and brush the bag, voila - FAIR BALL.
