When you don't have roots in China and aren't a Chinese citizen, but dedicate your career to China by founding organizations like the "Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China," you're a fucking loser. The world would be a better place if everyone focused on their own shit.

@kitlangton What do you mean by shell... Cmd, pwsh or the gui windows shell None of them is particularly slow btw. Only thing I can think of is pwsh's cold start takes about 500ms

Highly recommend running Windows e2e tests for all your projects. It's basically free Chaos Monkey in that its slow-ass shell operations will surface all latent race conditions.

my wife was formerly cool as hell. i was a virgin, in a spiritual sense. she had seen bands i only knew from wikipedia footnotes. basement shows, warehouse shows, shows that technically did not occur. she knew people—actual people, not just usernames—who did things. she did a lot of things herself. then she met me and everything changed. we got to know each other over a year. i mostly listened, hostilely. occasionally emitted some trivia like a wind-up toy. we dated for four months during which i continuously and passive aggressively resented her. this was working out well for me and we were engaged for two and a half after that. at no point in this process did i become cool. i want to be clear about this. our first kiss was at the altar, which, in retrospect, was probably the only context in which i could have pulled it off without fumbling like a freshman at his first mixer. we’ve been married five years now and i still take every opportunity to remind her, everyone we meet, and total strangers passing by what a massive whore she was, and how big of me it is to forgive her anew every day.

Real. DeepSeek-Web continues changing. I'm not sure if it's actual checkpoint update or system prompt or what, but it's terser, less humanlike, faster, and yes, seems to yield technically better results. A novel starting motif is `We need to: ""`. Roughly 7 days difference:

Oh, it just got worse. The [public github issue](github.com/BerriAI/litell…) has been closed as "not planned" by the owner, so they likely have been fully compromised.

LiteLLM HAS BEEN COMPROMISED, DO NOT UPDATE. We just discovered that LiteLLM pypi release 1.82.8. It has been compromised, it contains litellm_init.pth with base64 encoded instructions to send all the credentials it can find to remote server + self-replicate. link below

One of the most insidious tics LLMs have when coding is this obsession with adding "fallback" behaviors everywhere These are extremely toxic because they hide real bugs and most importantly, introduce lots of potential privilege escalation vulnerabilities everywhere

@neogoose_btw Does fff have indexed search as an option? There are some domains where you have to do very frequent searches of say arbitrary uuid in a million .md files & UE deteriorates if each query takes 100ms+ to complete. Another example is huge reference books that rarely change

TLDR from their words it is faster than FFF. But it makes absolutely 0 sense to me. FFF searches same query for 250ms. But it doesn't require 550mb index and HOURS of compute to index it Stay tuned I'll drop the article why this is the biggest lie in the file search history
Cursor@cursor_ai

Cursor can now search millions of files and find results in milliseconds. This dramatically speeds up how fast agents complete tasks. We're sharing how we built Instant Grep, including the algorithms and tradeoffs behind the design.

@predict_addict It's a very common suspicion on the part of grad students. People also commonly suspect their ideas got stolen by referees. The more groundbreaking you think your research is the more susceptible you are to such suspicions.

@decadimitry Gary is probably buying it illegally from India like most people do. Check out r/afinil and related subreddits. Whether this warrants immediate arrest of Gary and seizure of all his properties is a question I won't pretend to decide in this comment.

Who's prescribing Garry Modafinil, and for what? And if he doesn't have a script for a schedule IV controlled substance... well, I've heard a few Garry rants about what should be done to people who use illegal drugs.
Kat Scott 🐀@kscottz

I don't have a problem with people using drugs, but one of the reasons I left my old job is because a sr. dev suggested a jr. dev take Modafinil and have an all night coding session. I felt like that crossed a line. Also aren't these the same people screaming about fentanyl?
