After fleeing their financial and legal obligations in South Africa, Mel and Peet Viljoen have been arrested in the US for aggravated grand retail theft charges.
Reality TV couple Melany Viljoen (39) and Petrus “Peet” Viljoen (57), featured on Real Housewives of Pretoria were arrested in Boca Raton, Florida on 10 March 2026. Police say they ran a 6-month “ticket-switching” theft scheme at a Publix, stealing $5,302 in groceries across 52 transactions (Aug 2025–Mar 2026).
Investigators say 392 items went unscanned, often by scanning cheap seasoning packets while bagging expensive goods. CCTV allegedly shows Peet distracting staff while Melany used self-checkout.
Melany told police she acted alone and was in “survival mode” without a U.S. work visa, but investigators say footage shows both involved.
Both face aggravated grand retail theft charges under Florida law.

I’m appalled by all the calls for Igor Tudor to be fired. He is comfortably the greatest ever Spurs manager…. if you’re an Arsenal fan. #SaveIgor 🙏

Members of the Gauteng Traffic Police, together with the Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (EC), acted on information received about a Toyota Starlet allegedly involved in robbing school learners of their cellphones.
According to the information, the vehicle carrying five occupants had just robbed a learner from Kaalfontein Secondary School of his cellphone. The suspects reportedly fled the scene towards the Allandale area.
Members immediately responded and proceeded to the identified location, where the vehicle was spotted. A high-speed chase ensued, with additional support from members of SAPS Ivory Park.
The vehicle was intercepted in Glen Austin, where two suspects were successfully arrested. Three other occupants managed to flee the scene on foot and are currently being sought by authorities.
The two suspects were arrested and charged with common robbery, while the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized.
Preliminary investigations have further revealed that the suspects, who are from Atteridgeville, may be linked to several similar robbery incidents targeting learners in Tembisa and Ivory Park.

As received:
Two elderly tourists from the Netherlands were attacked on a farm in South Africa on Friday evening 6th March 2026, after three masked men broke into the house on the farm near Swellendam. The incident occurred at a private farm in the Western Cape, where the elderly couple was staying.
According to local reports, the attackers entered the guesthouse early in the evening, allegedly tied up the victims, and robbed them before fleeing on foot. The couple sustained injuries during the assault and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the robbery and are appealing for witnesses or any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
No arrests have been made at this time.

South Africa we need your input here 🙏🏾
We need to make a decision going forward from tomorrow.
Do we stop mentioning dealership names when we find unscrupulous behaviour or do we continue?
Maybe advise on a way of doing it that will protect the consumers/public while protecting the dealership and protecting us?
Please try buy cars at MIOSA registered Dealerships.
Please open cases at MIOSA against Dealerships that have done you wrong.
If you have bought a car and they sold it to you under false pretence please open a case with MIOSA urgently !! A new ruling has ended up at the consumer tribunal and the dealership was fined and customer refunded because they lied about the condition and service history of the vehicle.
Always ask and get it IN WRITING if car was in accident, if car is in excellent condition and if the car has service history !! Use this info when submitting to MIOSA.
Lastly if you bought a car and it has given you trouble within the 6 months of purchase you have a RIGHT to take it back and get a replacement or refund or they can repair it. This decision is for you as the consumer to make and not the dealership.

This is hugely embarrassing and shameful behaviour by the people tasked with running our football. We will be informing @CAF_Online, @FIFA about our intention to investigate and take action. We are hard at work bringing corporate sponsorship to @SAFA_net to allow this nonsense
