Sulzberger: “I disagree with those who have suggested that the risk Trump poses to the free press is so high that news organizations such as mine should cast aside neutrality and directly oppose his reelection. It is beyond shortsighted to give up journalistic independence out of fear that it might later be taken away.”
A long article, worth your time.

@NPRinskeep @anylaurie16 The story never *literally* says Trump is normal but it presents both candidates as making equal arguments. Trump's 3 items are presented with no critique or pushback despite being boiled down from his hours of rambling. Harris's coverage is about her responding to critics.
English

Thanks. I listened! This report seems to be mainly about Harris. It notes that Trump wants to roll back efforts to fight climate change - true. It says Harris has been pushed for more economic details - true. It then says she has begun to answer with “forward looking” ideas.
The story never says “Trump is normal” or any equivalent. All the facts in it are true. It is one of thousands of NPR reports that cover different aspects of Trump and Harris. Did you really need every report to tell you what to think about Trump? You seem to have made up your mind on your own.

@NPRinskeep @anylaurie16 This sounds like the NPR News Now break at 11pm pacific/2am eastern. I just listened in the archive and it’s what Laurie described. Incoherent rambling is presented as normal ideas, then Harris’s ideas are critiqued. npr.org/podcasts/50000…

@NPRinskeep @anylaurie16 Reporting on Trump seems to be like parents with a toddler learning to speak. Most of us hear the kid say, "Un-ugh ha-uh ba-boom!" The parents translate, "He says he likes your hat and nuclear power will lower prices." But if you ask him what he means you get called "NASTY!"
English

@NPRinskeep @anylaurie16 Trump and Harris are mentioned as both having plans to combat high prices. Trump's rambling is boiled down to "boosting fossil fuel production, nuclear energy, and he wants to roll back many of Biden's efforts to fight climate change." Harris then has to answer to critics! Sheesh

@anylaurie16 Thanks for listening! Would you send a link to the story you described? It will take less time than it did to compose your tweet. All stories are easily searchable at npr.org.

@ForChock @TheRealTavie @Vickilewis1 I loved those Zooms. I can’t believe I got to talk with Dave Foley. Great moments in a scary and weird time.

@TheRealTavie @Vickilewis1 She was so kind in that Zoom! All the guests were. I'm sure you are correct and they were all thinking "Dorks, Dorks, Dorks". I'm ok with that! LOL

@doctorow I explained to them why "Confederate Square" was a touchy subject in the US. Someone was maliciously editing. There were too many edits for me to submit. The Maps team could search & fix. The support agents then told me that they do not have contact with the Maps developers.
English

@doctorow A few years ago someone got edits approved to add "on Confederate Square" to a bunch of Central Texas courthouse squares. There's only 1 real one (Gonzales, TX). Contacted Google Maps support, told them the problem, and the India-based agents did not see what the problem was.

Latest vid is a huge one, a run down of the top 50 #Macintosh #Shareware games. There's heaps of these brilliant 'indies of the 90s' games for classic MacOS. Also neat just how many of them have been remade for modern systems too! #retrogaming #marchintosh
