Price gouging does not apply to luxury items. It literally does not even fall under the category or definition. You can price gouge groceries, gas, utilities, etc. You’re comparing apples and oranges. Nobody “needs” a $700 driver or $130 polo. But guess what, there are $200 drivers and $15 polos readily available for purchase all over the country from multiple vendors and people.

Since this concept is hard for people, here’s a lesson in how business works. I buy a golf grip for wholesale price. Let’s say it’s $5. I sell and install that grip for $12. Gross profit $7. Costs you don’t see. Tape, grip solvent, rent for my building, insurance for my building, utilities for my building, the time it’s taken me to be efficient installing a grip so that it takes me less than 2 minutes from start to finish, the taxes I pay on the $7 profit from selling that grip. That $7 profit turns into $3-$4 profit very quickly. You can insert any product into this scenario. You idiots complaining about the price of things are either uneducated or broke.

@rtistSage Except it doesn’t, it just makes it where you can’t cheat on riot’s games. They even put out a statement that says you can continue to cheat on other games. They’re not bricking anything. They’re protecting their asset. Again, being this paranoid is valid, but don’t click agree.

Incorrect. I actually agree that more competitive games should use kernel-level EDR tools. Vanguard is the only one that will obliterate your machine apparently. Honestly I'm not shocked at the low level consumer takes because you genuinely just don't understand beyond "I can download RGB light from Steam" and shit.

The most insane part is I'm pretty sure this isn't even legal, Riot Games is literally going to be destroying computers (with impunity) even if its a false positive or error, the Vanguard anti-cheat could also be exploited by hackers to brick millions of PCs... this isn't legal.
Dexerto@Dexerto

Riot Games have “bricked” $6,000 DMA cheating devices with their Vanguard anti-cheat The hardware is denied access to game memory, so cheaters can't play Riot titles

It doesn't matter. Everyone should be allowed to access the memory on the computer they bought to play your games with. It's their computer not yours. Stop doing these things.

Well, that escalated quickly. There’s been a wave of claims by cheaters about Vanguard “bricking” their PCs, so let’s clear that up: Vanguard does not damage hardware or disable your devices. The photo we posted is a picture of cheat hardware devices that are sold explicitly for cheating in VALORANT (not normal PCs or PC components). Through our latest updates, Vanguard now makes those devices worthless for VAL, but does not in any way brick PCs or PC components or PC software. Our latest update enforces standard platform security features, like the Input-Output Memory Management Unit (IOMMU), on accounts identified as using Direct Memory Access (DMA) cheating devices. These protections are already part of modern systems and when enabled, they block DMA cheat devices (such as those shown in the photo) from accessing memory in downstream applications, like our games. If a cheat setup continues attempting to cheat after those protections are enabled, the system may generate hardware faults or instability. This is expected behavior under IOMMU when attempts are made to read protected memory. Disabling IOMMU allows the cheat device to function again, but IOMMU will still be required to play our games. This means the cheat device won’t work with our games, but your PC isn’t “bricked.” We would not, and cannot, impact your PC’s functionality in any other fashion. This functionality only applies to systems attempting to use DMA cheat devices, and players who are not using DMA-based cheat setups are not affected. We’ll keep investing in anti-cheat to protect competitive integrity, and we’ll keep being as transparent as possible about how those systems work.

Mike Levin
Mike Levin@MikeLevin·
This New York Times piece is worth your time. Here’s what is happening, as simply as I can put it. Back in January, Trump sued the IRS, an agency he controls, demanding $10 billion over the leak of his tax returns a number of years ago. IRS lawyers did their jobs. They wrote a memo laying out the defenses that could beat the suit, including the fact that Trump filed too late. His own lawyer was in court when the leaker pleaded guilty in October 2023, more than two years before Trump sued. The Justice Department never showed up to court. Never argued back. Never used the defenses sitting on their desk. The judge got suspicious and ordered both sides to explain whether they were actually opposing each other or just colluding. The day before that brief was due, Trump dropped the suit. Same day, his Justice Department announced a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded “anti-weaponization fund.”  Trump gets a formal apology. The IRS agrees to drop any audits of him and his family, even though a 2024 Times report found a loss in an ongoing audit could cost him over $100 million. The acting Attorney General, Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, picks the five commissioners who decide who gets paid. Trump can fire any of them. Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are not ruled out. This is the most corrupt thing I’ve ever seen from an American president. Where in the hell are my Republican colleagues? nytimes.com/2026/05/19/adm…

Nick is completely misidentifying the hill Dalton is willing to die on. Dalton isn’t risking his life for the right to say “the n word”. Dalton is fighting the idea that the greatest crime you can commit in today’s society is to offend a non white person. This is such a strong, pervasive issue in western countries today that a college kid in the UK just died, drowning in his own blood, because a Sikh man stabbed him and then tried to justify it by saying the kid had been racist. Think about that for a moment. The police denied a kid that had been stabbed 4 times with an 8 inch knife medical attention because a brown person claimed racism. The reason we even all say “the n word” is because we live in UNIVERSAL FEAR of the repercussions. We are more afraid of saying a word than a black person is of going to jail for assaulting you for saying it. We’ve been cucked. That’s why we live in “nigger hell”, Nick. And Dalton was trying to change that. In front of the whole country, he was literally risking his life to challenge the idea that the greatest crime you can actually commit is to offend the sensibilities of a black person. I understand that you can’t condone people behaving this way because of the liability, but Dalton wasn’t doing what he did just so that he could say “the N word”. He, just like you, was trying to make real ideological change. @NickJFuentes

You aren't worth it, worm. There are a litany of cases of blacks committing horrible violence and being let off because they're too retarded for trial. How do you think people like Irinya are killed by trash perps with a long record of violent crimes, any one of which should have carried a life sentence. In your best case, you insolent fools will win, and global Haiti will be your prize.

No, we already know that blacks can attack with impunity, we're just decrying the injustice. Furthermore, when attacked, one can't assume the stack stops at a single punch, it usually leads to curb stomping the victim's head, and the black assailant is almost never charged with attempted murder.

Yes the government can’t arrest you for exercising free speech, speech does not allow you to assault someone, and in stand your ground states being jumped / assaulted by someone gives you reasonable self defense. These basic constitutional and legal premises all point to the fact that the judicial system is discriminating against Chud in a clear self defense case. You really think the government isn’t using Chud’s speech in its decision to set his bail at $1.25 million or to charge him with attempted murder in a case where someone literally drove 30 miles to stalk and attack him?

@boardride23 I really think the government can’t possibly do that bc it only directly protects you from the government. You are talking about a trial involving a private citizen. There are literally ZERO protections in the constitution about how the government sets bond for habitual offenders
