Sometimes I wonder why Singapore banking industry keeping going backwards while claiming to be innovating forward. OCBC has been putting out massive PR campaigns on AI, but go backs to hotlines for adding card to Google Wallet?

@andrewabogado yeah, could be like Chrome; small(?) model for offline/simple usage, fallback to API for better quality 🤷‍♂️ Apple did announce the "Private Cloud Compute" thing too 😆

@cheeaun Ah, privacy/offline-first use case is the key there. While that's valid on most cases, ChatGPT should be hitting OpenAI's servers right?

@andrewabogado I think Google's will call APIs tho', as for Apple will always try to make it local for privacy sake + work offline. Chrome now includes Gemini Nano for client-side AI/JS calls, but it's the smallest model and… not so good 🫣

@cheeaun Right? That sux, big time. I mean, even Chromebooks will have it baked in. Hopefully, Apple will finally democratize AI use cases. Including backwards compatibility for their second-class citizen consumers.

@andrewabogado ah ok, yeah it needs newer devices 🫣 It works on my device (MBA M2 — ChatGPT integration, writing tools, generate images) but uses 10GB of disk space 🫠

@cheeaun Oh hey, Chee Aun 👋 Apple Intelligence feels like just scratching the surface and hasn’t cracked AI yet. No native AI capabilities, just integrating with OpenAI. Also not accessible & kinda elitist, leaving older devices behind (RIP my devices, poor me 😂)
