@TheFreelyAshley I was hardcore dem. I watched them become more and more rabid, and just crazy. Watching them attack anyone unless you thought just like them while saying they the party of peace, love, tolerance, it flat got embarrassing to be associated with it and I saw through the hate

In 2016 I hated Trump so much. I hysterically cried on election night. I sobbed and screamed about how he would "take away our rights" and "destroy our country". I screamed how everyone who voted for him was an "ist" of some kind. And over the following 3 years my world was turned upside down. I started listening to the "other side". I started genuinely trying to understand. I read and listened far more than I spoke. I stopped lashing out at people. And then I saw it. I finally stood back and stopped screaming long enough to see how much hatred had built up in my own heart. How contradictory the ideas I held were. I finally started uncovering the lies. I spent a lot of time thinking. Weeding through the mess inside my head. My opinions started to shift and change. Looking back, it seems like it happened slowly and then all at once. In 2019, I left the Left. In 2020 I voted for Trump. In 2024 I found God. I've been called a liar. A grifter. Brainwashed. A "pick-me". Any insult you can think of, I've probably seen it floating around my comment sections. The reality is: I changed. A lot. And there's more stories like mine.
