In the wake of the Mount Mayon eruption in the Philippines, communities are being impacted by ashfall—volcanic debris that blankets and damages the land. WCK's #ChefsForPhilippines teams are working side by side with trusted partners on the ground so that families surrounded by ashfall can access food while roadways are blocked and crops have withered.

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, WCK teams have been on the frontlines—making sure Ukrainians have access to the food and water they need. More than four years later, we're still there, serving hot meals, providing food kits, and so much more. Hear from WCK Response Director Yuliya who spoke to the @AtlanticCouncil about how our work has evolved since 2022: youtube.com/watch?utm_sour… #ChefsForUkraine

As conditions in Ukrainian frontline cities remain challenging, many families don't have consistent access to gas stoves and other cooking supplies they need to cook. That's why WCK is bringing the stoves to them with our cooking kits, each of which includes a gas stove, gas canisters, and a fire extinguisher. With these tools, Ukrainian families can once again taste the comforting flavor of a home-cooked meal, serving dignity during difficult times. #ChefsForUkraine

This is what displacement looks like in Lebanon. Rabei's home was hit by a missile in 2024. His sons were injured. One lost his eye. Today, his family remains without a home. "Food, water—we secure what we can. Life continues," he told us. Mohammed returned to Srifa is southern Lebanon after the ceasefire to find his home damaged, no water, no electricity. He couldn't even reach his house to see if it was still standing. These are the families WCK shows up for every day to ensure that even in the hardest moments, no one is left without a meal. #ChefsForMidEast

To scuba beyond 30 meters is no good…..and even good divers we will take it seriously before going deeper……to scuba into a cave below 60 meters was such a bad decision….darkness, narcosis, getting lost…..running quickly out of oxygen….so sad….😔
Midhuam Saud(米渡)🇲🇻@Midhuamsaud

Based on the information I have gathered so far from published reports and comments by experts, this is what is currently known: Depending on the source, the cave is described as having either four chambers or two main chambers, with some not counting the two smaller openings as separate chambers. The depth and dimensions also vary across different sections of the cave. 1. 🇮🇹 Gianluca Benedetti, the dive instructor, was reportedly recovered from Chamber B. 2. 🇲🇻 Sergeant Mahudhee’s body was reportedly recovered beyond Chamber B, either near the entrance to Chamber C or inside Chamber C ??? Rest of the 4 individuals were reportedly recovered inside Chamber D: 3. 🇮🇹 Monica Montefalcone, Associate Professor of Marine Ecology at the University of Genoa. 4. 🇮🇹 Giorgia Sommacal, Montefalcone’s daughter and a biomedical engineering student at the University of Genoa. 5. 🇮🇹 Federico Gualtieri, a recent University of Genoa graduate in marine biology and ecology, who had recently completed doctoral work on Maldivian corals under Montefalcone’s supervision. 6. 🇮🇹 Muriel Oddenino, a University of Genoa research fellow working on Montefalcone’s project. If these reported locations are accurate, the theory that they may have become disoriented on their way out, potentially mistaking the entrance to Chamber D for the cave exit, appears plausible. Note: These are not findings from any official investigation.
