Religious traditions such as Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism have shaped the lives of billions across centuries, cultures, and civilizations. A force with that kind of reach and endurance is likely doing something right. Something that has given meaning, moral order, community, and resilience to so many human beings cannot be dismissed with slogans like evil or brainwashing. That kind of language usually reveals more about how a person has been taught to see religion than about religion itself. Keep in mind that the world we live in is a lot similar to 1984. And we don’t get to pick and choose what we are being lied about.

It is becoming very clear who actually wants unity and who survives by feeding division. You cannot preach social peace while mocking people’s faith, smearing entire communities, and turning religion into a cheap political insult. Those who mock other people’s faith do not defend civilization. They corrode the moral ground it stands on. They are enemies of beauty.
