@jamonholmgren Yeah, you have a Javascript controller that is a native bridge to native code, and you can do cross-communication. The HTML sent from the server commands the native code. React native would be even slicker because it would be declarative instead of imperative.

Is there any reason to use Redis over SQL in 2023? SQLite, LiteFS, and huge SSDs for cheap might have flipped the equation

@VicVijayakumar Totally disagree. Benioff wasn’t doing it out of the kindness of his heart. He saw an opportunity to take advantage of a major career crisis and poach talent that the Salesforce mission would never in a million years be able to inspire and he chose to make light of the situation.

This is so crass and unnecessary to Benioff whose crime was offering a job to someone whose future was uncertain. The right response is “Thank you, I’ll definitely consider it!”

@htmx_org “Backend devs” is the inexperienced developer (read: developer who have only been willing to learn browser JavaScript at any skill level) swan song.

@ryanflorence By making the action explicitly bound to a route, you are giving up all of React’s composability. It was an incredible solution at the time, but RSC and server actions are a “next generation” of these ideas. The 90% feels unfair

My greatest regret about launching Remix was letting others control the conversation and talking about SSG instead of focusing on this stuff. The top right box needs about 100 more lines of code to be correct, and Remix from the start gave you 90% of "use server" in the box on the bottom right. That 10% difference is in Remix you explicitly add the action to a route, while "use server" + bundler tricks creates the endpoint for you.

@srbaker @JarredKenny This. Your hotel wifi sucks because they’re probably using a single AirPort Express from 2006 that two interns have knocked on the floor dozens of times during coital bliss. Or they’re paying for the internet plan designed for a college student.

@JarredKenny There is a good ("good") reason for this. Hotel chains bought _really long_ contracts on their WiFi installations years ago. They are contractually obligated to not replace or upgrade the systems. But they were installed years ago, when the technology wasn't as good.

My only real conspiracy theory is that Canada's telcos and hoteliers are in cahoots. Why else is hotel Wi-Fi always so terrible, pushing us to tether and use our pricey data plans? 🤨

You're building a new greenfield React app. You can't use NextJS because it would make your devops team cry. What do you use?

A great example of why there are a thousand courses to learn how to be a “coach” and just claim authority on a topic and then state opinions like facts. As someone who not only is on the spectrum but has worked with many others (included non- or minimally-functional), big yikes!
