In CA this month, we’re literally required as a venture firm to ask each of our CEO’s in a survey if they are gay. Meanwhile today in Texas the voting machine is like, Y or N, “Ban gender nonsense in K-12?” “Ban sharia law?” 🇺🇸

Anthropic just told us that white collar unemployment may soon be driven to levels that make the whole system go *boom*. 6-7% unemployment ought to be more than enough to light the fuse.

The $BTC carnage is accelerating. Now down 12+% today. Now the 4th worst day this decade. The other 3 were days around something "breaking." So, what is "breaking" now? Nov 9, 2022, FTX failure Jun 13, 2022, Terra Luna Collapse Mar 12, 2020, worst of COVID Shutdown

At Andreessen Horowitz, we just raised over $15B. With these new funds including American Dynamism ($1.176B), Apps ($1.7B), Bio + Health ($700M), Infrastructure ($1.7B), Growth ($6.75B), and other venture strategies ($3B), we raised over 18% of all venture capital dollars allocated in the United States in 2025. Why did we raise the money and how do we plan to invest it? Read more from Ben Horowitz: a16z.news/p/we-raised-15…

@airindia Thanks, the luggage was delivered promptly. Ruby and her crew did a great job. Appreciate that no items were lost and the baggage (barring some ugly scratches) is intact. Wish you success on the turnaround, the ground operations clearly needs to get better. #FlyAirIndia

Recovering the lost history of Gaza Palestine is one of humanity’s oldest toponyms, and records of a people named after it are as old as literacy itself newstatesman.com/culture/books/…

"Palestine is a word as old as literacy itself." As we reflect on some of our most fascinating conversations of 2025, this insight from @DalrympleWill, speaking live to @AyoCaesar, remains one to remember.

Through yesterday’s close the 5-day decline in the Russell 2000 and NASDAQ composite was greatest in 120 days, the 10-day decline in Russell 2000 and NASDAQ was greatest in 120 days, VXN gained 20% in 3 days, S&P 600 generated a 10/1 downside issue day, and the Russell 2000declined more than 5% over a 10 day period. The above combination of oversold readings (initial reading) has never occurred with the S&P 500 down just -3.17%. The declines in the S&P ranged from -6.91% to -18.90%. Frankly, we do not know whether this is a bearish or bullish development.

Is AI different? In the past technologies (dishwashers, word processors, etc.) moved workers up the added value scale, w/productivity at the bottom. AI is moving lawyers, editors, radiologists into lower value jobs: Uber drivers, waiters... Gains are going to technofeudalists

There is the notion of the spurious tail. With 10 million active US investors, >13K will perform "great" just out randomness, >300 will have stellar results. The way to control for skills is via 1) dimensionality (Soros, yuuge skills), i.e. lack of correlation to known factors, 2) longevity/subperiods (Buffet, yuuge skills), and, further, both of them started when the base was small.

I don't like Bill Ackman or Tucker Carlson, but Carlson is mistaken if he thinks Ackman is a useless person with no actual skills. If a useless person with no actual skills could make as much money as Ackman has, there would be millions of billionaires in America.

Everyday, a new low for public health in India. Looks like the Government in Maharashtra has started their own population control program. Homeopathy quacks (legalized "Dr." with BHMS degree) can now do a 6-month pharmacology course and start prescribing modern medicines (which the article wrongly calls Allopathy). To my friends in Maharashtra, before you visit any doctor, make sure you understand the credentials. Look for BHMS degree followed by a pharmacology course or diploma degree. If you see such credentials please remove yourself from that precarious situation and go to an actual doctor. You cannot expect a Homeopath who spends their entire life believing in vital force theory of disease, benefits of diluted formulations, totality of symptoms (instead of cause of disease) and bad mouthing medical science every chance they get and promoting anti-vaccine sentiments in their routine practice to suddenly turn out to be competent physicians. They are quacks, will remain quacks and should be treated as quacks.
