REPORT: The Miami Heat are looking to acquire Klay Thompson via trade or buyout, per @ShamsCharania “The Miami Heat’s number 1 priority right now is to acquire shooting. They found their number 1 target. That’s Klay Thompson. The problem is Klay has 1 year left on his contract so they’re exploring whether they can trade for him, or whether this could end up in a buyout. We’ll see over the next several weeks.” (h/t @ohnohedidnt24)

Watson’s agents are delusional. Selling his “ceiling” from a 20 game sample is going to get him in a tough position. Qualifying offer + an in season injury could lose him 50m dollars easily.
Jeff Morton@jmorton78

Deleted the "insult" tweet RE: Watson. Wrong wording. I wasn't surprised the Nuggets started at what amounts to slightly more than the non tax MLE. My surprise is just how far apart Watson and the team are. Like about a full 10 million per season apart. That's a LOT.

@DNVR_Nuggets @TheSteinLine Peyton Watson under zero circumstances should do this. It only helps the Nuggets. That were a family shi is a fairly tale. Get your money while you can young man.

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺: Peyton Watson has been weighing playing next season on the qualifying offer, per @TheSteinLine Stein reports Denver's initial contract offers were believed to be in the 4-year $70M range - well below Christian Braun's $25M AAV. 🔗 Full report: tinyurl.com/mwk2a55y

@jaxgregory It’s not looking like he’s going to play for Detroit this year. Early reports were Duren’s camp wanted around $35 million a year. Not this supermax rumor that’s going around. If you’re not willing to pay him that now, you won’t be next year either.

I’ve sat on this for a bit. If Duren keeps his asking price high, him back on the QO isn’t the worst thing for DET. It’d give DET $36m under the tax to make creative upgrades mid season. If he plays well, & DET is his best offer next summer, would he really still walk away?

@gnosys @KirkSeriousFace Yeah I’m not a “Project 2028” guy, so I’m not very concerned with that. But at that price, your return on investment could be very impactful, especially when you need role players and depth.

@gnosys @KirkSeriousFace If you’re able to have a healthy Lively at $10-$12 million/ per year over the next 4 years, I’m keeping Lively. His archetype is a must have these days.

@nbanerdd Okay, my eyes are closed. Now Giannis is out 4-6 weeks with an injury. It’s not looking good for Miami.

@MavsStan41 Steph is too good to leave Golden State, where he’s a God, and go to a rental team where their fan base will disrespect and criticize him if they fall short of a championship or he ends up with an injury. Grass ain’t always greener.

@mavericksdigest Don’t forget Lively is represented by Klutch, there will be no discount or realm of reality in these contract extension discussions.

@MavsMuse Man, if you can’t get the Lively extension done, you seriously need to consider pursuing a Jalen Duren. Otherwise, you’re waiting to be able to draft a true center. Which could take years.
