@Brooks_UGA @coachmidmajor Hey coach, would love to hear your take on this if you have time on the podcast this week. UGA AD posts a pic from UGA women's match crowd apparently lobbying to not have it go to Orlando when here's what the crowd looked like for the men's finals on courts 4-6. TY

I respectfully ask the NCAA tennis oversight committee to reevaluate the 10 year commitment that was made to Orlando. A decision that was essentially made behind closed doors without giving any campus sites an opportunity to bid on any of those years. I haven't met one athlete, coach, or fan that prefers this tournament be played on off campus sites.

@PatrickMcEnroe @PayersPlayers @ClayTravis Wake up Patrick - Educational model is long gone in Collegiate Sports and now a business model (I personally hate that) Get in the weeds and educate yourself on Collegiate Sports and then educate yourself on supply and demand in tennis. Then and only then join the conversation

Appreciate you jumping into this discussion @ClayTravis. If college sports are now simply professional roster-building, say that. But if college athletics is still about education, development and opportunity, these numbers should concern people.
Clay Travis@ClayTravis

Should US colleges have a minimum number of US born athletes on their teams receiving scholarships? Legit debate we should have. Look at men’s tennis numbers below, nearly 90% foreign born.

@EthanMosz Someone needs to steal McEnroes megaphone or ghost his social media. He is doing college tennis more harm than good with his uninformed dog whistle takes

We’re a month away from Pat et. al. hyping up Rafa Jodar’s college experience at RG. Can’t have it both ways. We’ve been pitching college as a “path to the pros.” Is that only the case for Americans? Is that your pitch, really?
Patrick McEnroe@PatrickMcEnroe

NCAA men’s tennis Sweet 16 snapshot — by my count: 20 American starters in 96 singles spots. 12 from just two teams: Stanford and Ohio State. That leaves 8 American starters across the other 14 teams. The issue is the overall numbers — and what they mean for American players below the elite level.

Michigan State isn’t lifting Big Ten trophies often. How do you let a coach out of the building that was coaching in his hometown, at his Alma mater, where he was an All-American?! Program did a 180 in short order Need more from @MSU_Battman We will assess him a flagrant 2

In four years, Coach Jadun guided Spartan men’s tennis to many milestones, elevating the program to new levels. We wish him and his family well as they set out on a new journey. Harry is truly a Spartan for Life!

@PatrickMcEnroe @collegiate10s @WSJopinion Not True - Non Elite players (4/3/2 star players) have plenty opportunities - 300 Div 1 - 180 Div 2 - 300 Div 3 - 100 NAIA schools with tennis. Over a 1000 spots each year available for approx US supply of 400 players in each class - False Narrative of no pathway

The elite American players usually find their way. The bigger issue is the overall numbers — and the shrinking opportunities for non-elite American players who used to see college tennis as a real pathway. That pathway matters. It mattered to me. Thanks again to @WSJopinion for giving me the space to make the case.

@PatrickMcEnroe @WSJopinion Supply and Demand my friend - Not a big enough US junior supply number or quality wise to fill the demand - Give me one example of a junior US player who cannot find a spot - False narrative that foreigners are freezing out US juniors

College sports is the Wild West. College tennis helped shape my life. Now the sport is facing a serious question: Where are all the Americans in American college tennis? Thanks to @WSJopinion for giving me the space to make the case.

Very concerning for many sports, especially college tennis! Formula for most collegiate programs committed to “opportunities for education through college sports” should be: -- Commit to D2 / Embrace the “education” and “scholarship” model of collegiate athletics / Be great where you are / Compete for national titles in all sports / and, Provide your student-athletes with a balanced and developmental experience! All of that within a sports budget that is financially sustainable!!! $$$ - 🙂

@plumb73bob @CanesCoachL @collegiate10s Each year a demand of over 1200 spots available across all three divisions - US junior class provide a supply of around 400 each year - You do the math

What is the NCAA doing about D1 schools signing so many pro players from Europe? Our Universities are signing Pros from Europe and not our American high school athletes. Something is wrong with this picture.

@plumb73bob @CanesCoachL @collegiate10s Another false narrative - How many older foreigners exactly are there - I also don’t like the 22 year old foreign freshman but there are less than 30 of them division 1 out of 2000 division one players - Statistically insignificant

@coachmidmajor @CanesCoachL @collegiate10s If the quality they are competing against are older professionals from other countries ya you are right the quality isnt the same. Its not a fair playing field and giving scholarship money to a foreign player at a state school that is funded by our tax dollars is win at all costs

Just re checked the numbers—ACC + SEC men’s team finals: 24 singles players… 3 Americans…HELLO??!! That’s a system that’s lost its balance. College sports used to DEVELOP American athletes. Now it’s short-term wins, global recruiting, and no structure. If American players don’t have this pathway anymore, where do they go? I’ll be talking about it tonight on Newsmax with Greg Kelly (9:40pm ET).
