@DrKristieLeong wait there are 2 more kickers: 1. the peanuts with the red skins are Valencia and they tend to never have aflatoxin, and 2. that study you posted about peanut butter a few weeks ago showed it didn't make you fat!

@codeslubber Fascinating! The l-arginine and polyphenols could explain that. And when you consider that they're a much healthier crunchy snacks than chips, there's more reason to eat them. 😊

Your brain is only 2% of body weight, but it uses 20% of your oxygen and 25% of your glucose. So, it’s a “fuel hog.” But the bigger story is blood flow. Most adults deliver about 15% of their cardiac output to their brain, and that ratio is higher in women and declines with age. (Cerebral blood flow & aging: Iadecola et al., Neurology/PMC review 2017) Your heart is essentially a delivery service for your brain and and dependent on the quality of your cardiovascular system. Supporting heart health is one of the most direct ways to protect brain energy, cognition, and resilience. 3 simple wins today: • Take a 15-minute walk. • Work from a different chair or take a phone call while standing. Tiny environmental shifts build new brain connections. • Prioritize 7+ hours of sleep. See the adjacent graphic for more suggestions. #BrainHealth #CognitiveHealth

I just mean a lot of time people act like they can be perfectly healthy without it. Carnivores can't have any of it right? So I am saying nitric oxide is essential to CV health. I am sure if you remove all sources of it from the diet, you will have massive mitochondrial dysfunction in short order.

Aging is a silent thief of Nitric Oxide (NO). As we get older, our endothelial lining, the inner skin of our blood vessels, loses its ability to produce this vital molecule. The result? Stiffer vessels and higher cardiovascular risk. Over the lifespan (ages 20–91), flow mediated dilation (a measure of a blood vessels ability to expand) drops by 48–64% in healthy nonsmoking adults But you can bypass the factory and provide the raw materials directly. The Nitrate-to-Nitric oxide pathway allows these 6 powerhouses to do the heavy lifting for your heart: •Arugula (The undisputed nitrate king) •Beetroot •Radish •Spinach •Celery •Lettuce Pro-tip: Don't use antibacterial mouthwash immediately after eating these. You need the bacteria on your tongue to convert nitrates into nitrites! Eat your greens. Your blood vessels will thank you. 🥬🩸 #HeartHealth #Longevity #NutritionScience

I agree with the recent belief though that mitochondrial dysfunction is at the root of most chronic disease and a lot of mental illness. Nitric oxide is not a nice to have. Although a ton of people eat nothing that will give them any (either all UPFs or carnivore/KETO)... the KETO people probably get some..

Yes, we're exposed to so many factors that damage our blood vessels these days - air pollution, ultra-processed foods, elevated BP, insulin resistance, sedentary lifestyle etc., and not all of them can we control, for example, air pollution. So, increasing nitric oxide production adds a little extra protection for what we can't control.

I agree! I avoid it myself, but I'm also not willing to tell people to never use it. It depends on the situation. Some people have severe periodontal disease where the cardiovascular risks from bacteria leaking into their bloodstream from their disease is greater than the risk of losing nitric oxide bacteria. Periodontal disease is known risk factor for cardiovascular disease. That's why it's rarely a good idea to see not to use something "period."

If you are such a lover of truth, why can no one respond? No this is total babble. Mossadeq seized the property of all the oil companies, the CIA did an operation there, but obviously you have never read a thing about it. Was run by TR's grandson Kermit Roosevelt, and it was the mullahs who dispatched Mossadeq. Colonialism sucks, but seizing decades long investments produces this result every time. Here is Gemini's excellent breakdown: It is a fascinating bit of history because it sits at the intersection of Cold War paranoia, corporate interests, and local Iranian power dynamics. You’re touching on a nuance that often gets lost in the "CIA vs. Democracy" shorthand: Operation Ajax (1953) wasn't just a handful of Americans flipping a switch; it was a messy, localized collapse. Here is the breakdown of the players, the motives, and what actually happened. 1. The Catalyst: Oil and Nationalization You are spot on regarding the primary trigger. Mohammad Mossadegh’s main platform was the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry, which at the time was controlled by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC)—today known as BP. The Dispute: Mossadegh argued that Iran received a pittance of the profits while the British lived off the wealth of Iranian soil. The Escalation: When he nationalized the oil, the British enforced a global boycott of Iranian oil, crashing Iran's economy. ITT and Others: While ITT (International Telephone & Telegraph) was a massive conglomerate often linked to later coups (like Chile in '73), the 1953 Iran coup was almost exclusively about Oil and Geopolitics. 2. The CIA’s Role (Kermit Roosevelt) Kermit Roosevelt Jr. (the grandson of Teddy) did indeed lead the operation. However, his initial attempt was a total failure. He nearly fled the country after the first stage of the coup was discovered and Mossadegh remained in power. The CIA’s primary "contribution" wasn't a military invasion, but rather: Bribery: Funneling money to newspapers to print anti-Mossadegh propaganda. Hired Protests: Paying "mobs" to create chaos in the streets to make it look like the country was sliding into anarchy. 3. The Role of the Mullahs and the Public This is the part many modern narratives skip. By 1953, Mossadegh had alienated many of his original allies. The Religious Establishment: Initially, the high-ranking clergy supported nationalization. However, they became terrified of Mossadegh’s growing reliance on the Tudeh Party (the Communists). The Shift: Fearing an atheist, Soviet-backed takeover, key clerics like Ayatollah Kashani turned against Mossadegh. They used their massive influence to mobilize the traditional middle class and the "bazaar" merchants against him. The Result: The "crowds" that eventually toppled Mossadegh were a mix of CIA-paid agitators and genuine religious/monarchist Iranians who feared a communist tilt. Summary of the "Real" Story The truth lies in the middle of the two versions you've heard: PerspectiveThe ArgumentThe "CIA Overthrew" ViewWithout Kermit Roosevelt’s money, coordination, and pressure on the Shah to sign the dismissal papers, the opposition would have remained fragmented and powerless. The "Internal Collapse" ViewMossadegh had become a "dictator in waiting," losing the support of the military, the clergy, and the merchants. The CIA simply lit a match in a room already filled with gas. Bottom Line: The CIA provided the spark and the script, but they couldn't have done it without the active participation of the Iranian military and the religious establishment who were terrified of a Soviet-aligned Iran. It’s one of history's great "what ifs"—if the British had just agreed to a fairer profit-sharing deal (like the 50/50 split the U.S. had with Saudi Arabia), the coup might never have been conceptualized.

Is oatmeal really a healthy breakfast? Dr. Mark Hyman blew this up with a fascinating Harvard study. They gave overweight teens the exact same calories for breakfast: oatmeal, steel-cut oats, or an omelet. Then let them eat freely the rest of the day. The oatmeal group ate 81% more food than the omelet group. They also had much higher insulin, cortisol, and adrenaline — their bodies were basically in stress mode. Even the steel-cut oats group ate 50% more than the omelet group. High-carb breakfasts spike blood sugar and insulin, which drives hunger hormones (ghrelin) and crashes energy later. Protein + fat stabilizes blood sugar and keeps you full longer. This one really made me rethink my old habits. I used to default to oatmeal thinking it was the “healthy” choice. Turns out I was working against my body. What you eat first thing dramatically affects your hunger, energy, and cravings for the rest of the day. What’s your go-to breakfast these days — and has changing it made a difference in how you feel?

@newstart_2024 Keto or carnivore is the way to eat my friend. Occasional carbs won't do much harm, but using the food pyramid as your food guide is the road to type 2 diabetes. I've been on both diets and low carb has been my friend.

@alenadundas @newstart_2024 Don't listen to this idiocy, it has been debunked many times: the oatmeal had added sugar, and was not groats. These two are absolute clowns. 🤡🤡

@newstart_2024 Can you please clarify if this means all types of oatmeal, or is there a difference depending on how it has been made? I homecook everything - oatmeal is oats slowly warmed with organic milk, add a half tsp of honey, some chia seeds & thats it. Are you saying that is also bad?

Had @claudeai do a major refactor today. It recommended I do an ultrareview, but warned me it would be an additional cost. So I went and read about it and found I get 3 for free so go back start it, after setting up the web integrations. Spun and spun and timed out, Claude tells me 'use another one.' So I start it again, one minute in Claude tells me it gave me the wrong commit that's why it failed. Now I have 1 left. Seriously what a PERFECT example of the disaster of these tollbooth goons navigating their own maze of token taking... thanks @anthropic!

Xi Jinping is putting on a clinic: “The whole world is watching our meeting. The International situation is turbulent. The world is at a new crossroads: Can China and the US overcome the Thucydides Trap and create a new paradigm to meet global challenges together.” The Thucydides Trap is the structural tension that occurs when a rapidly rising power (China) threatens to displace an established ruling power that is in decline (US). By mentioning the Thucydides trap, Xi Jinping is signaling that China is the new leader of the free world and what’s remarkable is, unlike the U.S., China achieved this without dropping bombs, waging endless wars, or spending $1 trillion a year on its military. Instead China became the leader of the free world by investing in its people with housing, education, health care, and the best modern infrastructure in the world, and investing in its neighbor countries through its Belt and Road Initiative, which has funded ports, railways, and energy networks across the Global South. The US became a “superpower” through endless wars, corruption, and selling out its own people to the billionaire class while China became a superpower and surpassed the US by building trade and relations with the world and investing in its people instead of wars. Americans would be wise to take note and then change our corrupt government.
