@sherlock_comms Way more. A salad lunch pot from a deli was at least $20-25. Without a drink. We ate at pizza places mostly as you could get a slice for $8-10 but that still added up for 4 of us. It was ridiculously expensive.

@coffeemadman @MikeMedFly The media is seeing the last reported speed of the aircraft via ground radar and/or the transponder (although the transponder was likely destroyed in the impact). So 20 mph is likely the last reported speed post-impact.

At what point does the FAA stop the show and force changes and regulations on ATC and traffic management.

@tayrosexox @SpursWinTrophys Ah my mistake - I'm not from there, just always been told it's West Midlands - but I knew it was at least Birmingham!

@MikeMedFly Ah I see. I have no idea what speed planes land at. 100mph+ does make more sense. Sadly.

@coffeemadman Looking at the damage I’d say 124mph The speed will be recorded in knots too, and the BBC should perhaps convert that to mph correctly

@BBCBreaking That's some damage for 24 mph. Assuming the truck was at some speed.

@pursuitofprog In London no arrests were made because someone actually paid for the items from the group. It’s all just for show.

You guys remember the BeReal app? That was actually kind of a cool concept. I wonder if there are people still grinding away on there.

@robbutler1984 @MacRumors It’s effectively £449 + tax in the US and £599 including tax in the UK. So it depends on which state you’re in.

@Heather_Poole Trouble is everyone thinks “they” need their bag more than others and that “they” won’t be slowing down evacuation because “they” are the only ones who need grab their bag. Times that by tens of passengers (if not more) and it’s an issue. It’s all fine until something happens.

It takes me 30 seconds to briskly walk without luggage from the front of an empty plane to the very back. It takes 50 minutes to board a large plane full of more than 200 passengers. During an evacuation we have 90 seconds to get everyone off the plane. Every second counts. If slides are deployed, you need to move quickly. And then you need to run from the plane. Luggage is going to slow you down

@ClassicII_MrMac Had to double check mine (🇬🇧) as I think we’ve always had it like this. I suspect just bringing the US in line with every other country in the world.

Small change: Looks like Apple updated the keyboard on the new M5 16‑inch MacBook Pro. The Backspace, Return, Shift, and Tab labels are gone, replaced with symbols instead.

@Turbinetraveler The guy with the roller suitcase should be immediately fined and banned from that airline. That was absolutely something he took time to get and you can almost see him clogging the queue as he tries to move forward.

Footage from the cabin of a United Boeing 787 shows passengers carrying their luggage during the emergency evacuation of Flight 2127 at LAX — a procedure that is supposed to be completed in 90 seconds or less. We never learn, do we?
Turbine Traveller@Turbinetraveler

A United Airlines Boeing 787-9 flight 2127 bound for Newark with 256 passengers and 12 crew made an emergency return to LAX shortly after departure due to a left engine issue. Emergency slides deployed and Fire crews hosed down visible smoke on arrival.
