@ArtemisConsort We're a nation composed of a people & dedicated to a creed. All nations are baseline hereditarian, but we let others join more than most. We've corrupted our creed with confusion & insincerity, but it remains our defining trait & core aspiration. Everyone's right except leftists.

All cooperating groups that want to survive need something that binds them together, and something that allows them to expel people who don’t fit, just as a cell must have a membrane and a way of expelling waste. The creedal nation model could potentially work - if it were real. But it’s not. It being real would mean we deport people who don’t share the creed. And if you say “part of the creed is we don’t do that” then that creed is a suicide pact. Even then, there are obvious problems. The creed enforcement process could be captured by a hostile faction. People could just mouth the words and not mean it, or come up with labyrinthine interpretations to make it mean whatever they want. And the whole picture is basically of a theocracy. It would likely stifle innovation, discovery, error correction. Regardless of how well a creedal nation would work, America does not do this and isn’t going to do it. We aren’t going to start exiling people who disagree with the Declaration of Independence to Madagascar. What we have in practice is a legally defined country, and I say “country” because it is less and less a nation in any thicker sense of shared ancestry, shared culture, *or shared creed*. What we have - sort of - are laws. And the laws can and have changed many times. We can change them again. So whatever poetry people want to spew, we do not, have never, and could never have a creedal nation, and the legal structure of citizenship can be revised. I consider all creedal nation talk a meaningless distraction because it has no substance. It implies no particular policy. It’s just a fluffy waste of words. What characteristics made America great? To what extent are those traits found in, or transferrable to, populations very different from the founding stock? What are the consequences of bringing in people to whom they are only transferrable over very long time periods, or not transferrable at all? And in light of the answers to these factual questions, what should our immigration laws be? These are the questions that matter. The rest is a waste of breath.

An entirely proportional response to this would be to prosecute every single member of the European Commission for violations of the US Constitution's protections of speech. When they're found guilty, SOF teams can be sent over to blackbag them.

Imagine you produce a 1 HOUR documentary. You absolutely love it. You narrate it. You use photos and videos you recorded yourself. You know your fans will love it. You upload it to YouTube. Your video is a big success! Lots of views! Lots of wonderful comments! Good job! Then you get a copyright claim. How come? Well, for 10 seconds you shot some video in the street and a car drove by playing a SONG. Well, you don't have permission to use that song, so here is what YouTube does: Are you ready? YOUTUBE will now give ALL REVENUE from YOUR video to the copyright holder forever. Even though the song only plays for 10 seconds out of your 1-hour video. This is 100% true. Yes, you can dispute it. Yes, you can edit it out. Yes, you can replace the song in the edit mode. But if you don't. YouTube gives everything to the copyright claimant forever.

@Kekius_Sage No, we aren't. Despite what sloppy thinkers say, the mathematics of special relativity is entirely compatible with faster-than-light communication and travel. What we know is that the matter we're familiar with can't be accelerated to faster-than-light speeds by applying force.

@AP4Liberty The NAP is trash. It is a poison that has corrupted libertarianism. Liberty is about the justness of defending natural rights & the duty of government to preserve them; it is not a full prescription of general morality & does not have anything to say about the ethics of conflict.

@ethanisimon @WolfegangB @upstatefederlst We didn't revolt for equal votes, but for natural rights & local autonomy. The government is not supposed to be a vehicle for the majority to rule, but a system for managing the few common affairs of the people & interactions between states that need centralized decision-making.

@ethanisimon @WolfegangB @upstatefederlst Your real thesis is evidently some weird idea that only the popular vote is a valid part of government. You're not explicitly laying out what that idea is or why you hold it, just indicting things for not living up to it. Well of course they don't, it's your own random standard.

It is not plainly wrong. That is an opinion. There is no reason to treat "California" as more important than "Rhode Island" because more people live there. The states are equal partners in the union or there is no reason to agree to the union.
Ethan Simon@ethanisimon

@upstatefederlst I'm misstating nothing. The purpose of the Senate is as you say—to treat every state, regardless of how many Americans live within its borders—as co-equal. In so doing, it grants some Americans up to 75x more representation in their government than others. It is plainly wrong.

@Phil_Rein @enochhowl Yeah, words have meanings. Libertarianism is about binding the state to preserve liberty; you're pretending power doesn't reconcentrate when dispersed & talking about destroying the state. That is "anarchism" or "communism", depending on the flavor of your delusion.

@ArtemisConsort contextual roles, relationships, & attitudes exist. When I chat with someone they are a "conversation object", when I buy from them they're a "commerce object", when I fight them they're an "enmity object"? No. This is not depersonalization but what personal interaction is.

No one has been able to define “objectification” for me in a way that isn’t obviously retarded and meaningless. Nonsense term. You will think better if you simply delete it from your mind without replacement.
Rolf Degen@DegenRolf

Men's tendency to view women as sex objects is plain and simple fueled by sexual arousal and "is not merely the domain of a pathological few." Sexual objectification refers to the process whereby an individual is reduced to their sexual function, neglecting mental characteristics. Yet little is known about the proximal mechanisms that lead men to objectify women. In the present research, we introduced and found support for the Arousal Hypothesis of Sexual Objectification, which posits that, beyond dispositional traits (e.g. personality), temporary states of sexual arousal increase the sexual objectification of women. Across four experiments (N = 675), we found consistent evidence that heightened sexual arousal increases sexual objectification in men. In Experiment 1, sexually aroused men showed a greater preference for women’s sexual physical attributes (e.g. curvy, sexy) over psychological attributes (e.g. empathy, intelligence), Across all studies, neither personality traits (Dark Triad, Social Dominance Orientation, Sociosexual Orientation) nor relationship status moderated the arousal-objectification link.. Taken together, these findings indicate that sexual arousal contributes uniquely to state sexual objectification, above and beyond individual differences. The present findings suggest that a state-level, arousal-driven process can produce sexual objectification independent of power motives, Sexual objectification is often viewed through the lens of power and personality. However, the present research demonstrates that temporary states, particularly sexual arousal, can independently increase the objectification of women, even among men low in antisocial traits (e.g., Dark Triad traits) or high in empathy. This finding suggests that objectification is not merely the domain of a pathological few, but a broader tendency that emerges in response to mating-relevant cues.
