Can anyone explain how they achieved these times without wearing nose strips?

@mudrmdb @DavidDack Aye cause people can't train right. Train & run to your pace shouldn't need to walk.

@MKBomann @runliftrunlift Or just don't stop - you won't need a calculation. 😎
English

@runliftrunlift This just sparked an idea for my Strava to Google Sheets app: automatically calculate resting time for every activity by subtracting moving time from elapsed time.

Some runners have misplaced fears about stopping/taking breaks during runs.
I’ve never worried about it. You can’t tell me my run yesterday didn’t meaningfully contribute to my fitness, even though I took several breaks to take pictures, go to the bathroom, etc
For a half marathon tempo run or marathon specific long run, sure, you don’t want to stop to take a 15 minute phone call.
But for the most part, taking breaks and walking around - especially on long runs - will probably be more beneficial than not.

@theryandreyer Chicago 2:59:18 - 168 avg. Close. Historically poor cadence.
English

Has anyone ever run a sub-3 marathon with a cadence below 165?
I doubt it
Cadence is easily #1 thing for new runners to improve
Especially former strength guys who move heavy
Get to 170 spm minimum

Marathon runner? Got time? Run 10. We all need more volume and frequently running this distance re-frames. 10 ain't long. #make10thenew6

@JenniferSey Didn’t all males win in the NB categories in the Boston Or New York Marathon a few years ago? 😂

Wake up at 5am to get your workout in before work
Turn down the donuts at the office
Meal prep your lunch
And also
Go out with friends on a Friday night for burgers and a beer
Indulge in some ice cream with your kiddos
Zoom out and see that health is multidimensional
You must make sacrifices
And
You gotta live

The GOAT crosses off another career milestone ✅

Kipchoge, who won four of the seven majors, turns 41 years old in three days.

@d9monti @irishathletics @jgault13 @Cathal_Dennehy @AthleticsWeekly @WorldAthletics @EuroAthletics @IrishRunnerMag Not to mention how difficult the Dublin course is - its a truely mind blowing run from a 19 yo.
English

A little more about 19 y/o #AvaCrean who won the @irishathletics marathon title at #DublinMarathon in 2:34:12 PB.
She also won the marathon in Limerick on May 4 in 2:43:39, and the Charleville HM on Sept 14 in 1:15:22.
On Oct 12 she ran 1:14:06 PB at the Manchester HM.

If you don’t feel like running, then don’t. If you’re not willing to make the time, that’s ok.
Just understand that on race day, someone else getting the results you want found a way to get their miles in.
That’s the difference. Some runners make it happen no matter what. Others make excuses. It shows on race day.
Consistency is everything.
English

Maybe my most controversial running opinion?
If you run a personal best time during a self-timed time trial, that’s great, but it doesn’t count as an official ‘PR.’
Chip-timed race please 🤷🏻♂️
Hybrid Athlete Guy@Hybridathlete
@brady_h @UltraRunner26 Do you actually think that? Like if you go to the track and run a full mile PR, you wouldn't count it?
