Everyone pissed about DLSS 5 is not seeing the real issue... hardware. My biggest problem with DLSS 5 is that I wont be able to use it and I have an RTX 4090 MASTER 24G It still wouldn't be good enough.

The M5 Max MacBook Pro is faster at GPU Blender renders than a Nvidia 5090 laptop that costs 3x as much as the MacBook Pro. So that's interesting.

After playing Crimson Desert for a couple hours, my excitement has been curbed. The biggest complaint I have is the damn controls. Trying to pick up a simple item is terrible. Having to hold down X? Whos idea was that? There are other issues, but thats killing it for me.

I dont care for the comparison to Crimson Desert since they're nothing alike but Dragon's Dogma 2 was one of the worst AAA game releases in the past decade. It released in a disgustingly broken state in every way and absolutely does not deserve any of the praise it got at launch.

@GPUsAreMagic The Legion on the other hand I was expecting the typical gale force winds you get with big gaming laptops. To my surprise though, gaming with the GPU hitting 180w, it was just a light hush of fan noise. Not anything like my previous gaming laptops.

@GPUsAreMagic I know exactly what you mean. I moved up from an Asus P16 that had a 370HX and 5070. It was impressive for what it was, but it got loud when pushed. There really is only so much you can do. I highly recommend that laptop for non gamers.

Apparently the key to making my laptop silent while gaming was... INCREASING the dynamic power share amount between CPU and GPU. Really curious how it figures out where to allocate that dynamic power budget, the CPU was using 35W, now its being forced to 25W - same FPS. 1/2

@SokiQtr @MischiefsYT It still wasn't 'solid' outside of cities. It was simply better. It still suffered from too much CPU usage, and on lower end systems you would feel it. I don't agree with his take, but the game all around had optimization issues.

@MischiefsYT I wouldn't say it was one of the worst AAA games released. It was simply terribly optimized. And still is. Was still a really fun game to play though if you could get past that.

@GPUsAreMagic I will say though, I recently switched to a Legion 7i Pro with a 5080 and 275hx, and as far as gaming laptops go, that one is by far the best for acoustics.

@GPUsAreMagic I've wondered the same thing. Some games will be like 'Nah, the CPU needs ALL that power' while others have no problem capping to 35w or less. Even if it means the limit shifts to the CPU side as opposed to the GPU.

@geerlingguy When I started PC gaming, hitting 60fps even with the top end stuff at max settings wasn't really happening either.

I'm glad I got to enjoy gaming in the era before you needed a $7,000 rig to redraw frames and generate slop frames to hit 62 fps in a AAA game.
