@jumpinjonnydee It would have to be a Lord of the Rings style trilogy. Which I’m totally down with but that’s gonna cost a lot.

@HiddenHistoryYT Absolute horseshit that the end doesn’t zoom out so you can see all the ships compared together.

Eastside big tech parent vibes are… not great.
AI is making people work harder, miss playdates, and quietly panic about being on the wrong side of the curve. Everyone knows software engineering changed over the winter; companies are just catching up.
The AI-native 20% are producing an absurd share of the output. Legacy orgs are not built for that -- so folks are waiting for next hammer to drop. And mix in some H1B anxiety…
Even housing bidding wars are cooling off, and the millionaire tax jokes are getting dark enough that some couples are half-joking about divorce to avoid it.

@TheEbonyMaw The Hairdressers episode where Chili guilts Bandit into being beat with a cricket bat and having flour poured all over him drives me insane.
English

@patinaresearch I am begging you to get rid of the awful background music.
English

@damcurious @WallStreetMav They explicitly denied an amendment to ensure it would never go under a million. Everyone in the state that works will be paying this tax in the next decade.
English

@WallStreetMav to be fair, it’s a 9.9% tax on annual income over $1 million.
English

The state of Washington used to be one of only 7 states with no personal income tax.
Now it is down to just 6 states.
Florida, Wyoming, South Dakota, Texas, Alaska and Nevada.
Anthony Mixer@AnthonyMixerWA
The final vote on the income tax in the House. It has passed 51 - 46. Democrats did not listen to you and voted to destroy Washington’s economy. Washington is dead. #waleg
English

@peterdsmith @Frost_RyanW Sorry, are voters approving a tax a bad thing?
English

@Frost_RyanW Liar. The key part of the amendment was to require voters to approve the income tax.
English

Rep. Mena (and 52 other dem's) voted "no" on the amendment that would limit the tax to millionaires and cap the rate at 9.9% in the constitution. #waleg
Ryan Frost@Frost_RyanW
Rep. Mena has said multiple times this income tax proposal is just “a tax on millionaires”. I look forward to her enthusiastic “yes” vote on upcoming amendments that ensure the $1 million income threshold isn’t lowered to apply to the rest of us. #waleg

@thehoffather I absolutely love the area, but if state legislators can pass laws explicitly banned in the state constitution and rejected by voters 10+ times, where exactly does their power end? Seems they answer to no one but themselves with zero accountability.
English

@grok @GovBobFerguson So would @GovBobFerguson claiming this is only a bill against millionaires be lying, given they can change the threshold at any time?
English

The Republicans offered Senate Amendment 696 (by Sen. Gildon) to SB 6346. It would've made the entire bill null and void unless voters approved a constitutional amendment by Dec 15, 2026, locking the tax's minimum threshold at $1M per household (and capping the rate at 9.9%).
Democrats rejected it on a party-line vote. The bill passed the Senate without the guarantee, then the House today (52-46) after rejecting dozens of GOP amendments—including ones targeting the threshold. The $1M floor (inflation-adjusted) remains statutory only and could be changed by future legislatures.

The Millionaires’ Tax passed by the House represents historic progress in rebalancing our unfair system.
It sends significant dollars back to Washington families and small businesses.
It expands the Working Families Tax Credit to 460,000 additional households – that’s money straight back into the pockets of working families.
It saves working parents money and ensures our kids are prepared to learn by funding free breakfast and lunch for all Washington K-12 students, which has been a priority of mine since I ran for governor.
The Millionaires’ Tax will apply to less than one half of one percent of Washingtonians, but make life more affordable for millions. I look forward to signing it.
English

@CockadoodleLou @thehoffather Well the good news for you is they rejected an amendment that limited this to people earning over a million dollars only so you WILL be paying this tax eventually regardless of your income!
English

@thehoffather Good thing I don't make over a million dollars a year.
Wait! I wish I did, I'd gladly pay the tax.
English

by comparison, here is the graph for men

Crémieux@cremieuxrecueil
Surprisingly large numbers of women are sterile in their 30s.

@nonregemesse Am I misremembering or didn’t Cersei also have an 8’ tall armored zombie on her side? What exactly would a mob of peasants do against that?
English

@jamestalarico @nikitabier @elonmusk this is a good example of how Community Notes is not working. A blatant lie with tons of documentation and all the notes are pending and not visible to most users.
English

@MidePreaches @TheAlexSylvian Mounted? Maybe. On foot? Absolutely not.
English

@Chrisrando90737 @aviel I know. I finally realized I don’t align with the voters in that area and moved east side.
English

@comradeflynn @aviel Did they really have a choice? The mayor who was defeated by the socialist lady who is living off her parents didn't seem likely to turn things around from the status quo. And it's one party.
English

Seattle friends who actually live/spend time in the city, I’m begging you, please do yourself a favor and visit another city other than Portland. This is not normal. You have developed Stockholm Syndrome. After spending real time in San Francisco (another supposed “west coast shit hole”) after nearly a decade of absence my brain is broken. We’re no longer even in the same league. Wake up!

I got accepted into X's community notes reviewer program a couple of mos ago, which means I see ~10x more community notes than before
And it's made me strongly convinced that the current algorithm is very miscalibrated — 80%+ of the "community note candidates" I see and review 1/ prove that the post is complete misinformation 2/ never get rolled out
I can't tell you how many times friends send me tweets like "omg did you see that??" and I have to respond "yeah there's an unposted note on this, turns out it's false"
Careful out there, if a claim makes you angry it's very likely bs
