The brazen illegality of SB6346 has awoken a sleeping giant. We're here, we're mad and we're getting organized.

@NormOrnstein A quick calculation: with 175 million voters in America and assuming that each voter votes for 60 years and then dies at age 78, you'd expect about 8,000 dead voters to die just on the day before federal elections. 300K dead voters is about a month's worth of voters.

@AnthonyMixerWA All the commenters here: you could have filed a complaint, too. And if you do, take a hint from the dismissed one, that being drunk isn't a conflict of interest.

Well this just in: The Legislative Ethics Board has dismissed a complaint regarding Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon being drunk while debating the operating budget in a committee hearing. The complaint suggested it was in conflict of interest. The LEB said it was more of a decorum issue. However it appears no further action will be taken by the House.

@BrandiKruse But ... there is. Require everyone to stay inside a faraday cage. Simple it's simple and effective. It's also a giant burden for a very low risk problem.

@elonmusk 2/ And if the answer in a bunch of cases is "why no, I didn't vote" then you've found your fraud. Hint: we do this all the time in WA and don't find anything.

@elonmusk Why is the fraud even slightly difficult to detect? Here in WA we vote by mail; the outer envelope is per-voter and the inner bit of paper is the actual vote. Absolutely nothing prevents a person from looking at the list of voters and then just asking them if they voted.

No voter ID, especially when combined with mail-in ballots, means the system is engineered to make fraud impossible to prove. Everyone knows that you can barely get through your week without showing ID for the most banal activities, like shopping at Costco. The only reason to ban ID is to hide massive voter fraud.
Katie Miller@KatieMiller

The reality is there's mass amounts of cheating in our elections. Just because there's an engineered lack of data, does not mean there isn't data to the contrary. The new CBS/YouGov poll shows that 80% of Americans support Voter ID including 80% of black Americans & 77% of Hispanic Americans. Yet why is it that Congress seems so intractable to wanting to pass a such a popular policy?

This bridge is literally failing and when it does will remove ambulance service and fire mutual aid to a rural Washington community. 1 hour and 11 minutes with a 51 mile drive not the current 29 minutes with a 19 mile drive. No work planned for Yale Bridge in WSDOT’s six-year budget thereflector.com/stories/no-wor…

We all know that our transportation infrastructure is in dire need of investment. I'm proud that the Legislature passed a bipartisan transportation budget for a significant down payment on preserving and maintaining our roads and bridges.

@goneers Firstly, you don't need a REAL ID to get on a plane. There's exceptions for people who, e.g., got mugged while on vacation and their ID was stolen. And there's exceptions for people who just don't have one. Secondly, most REAL ID doesn't include a citizenship marker.

Can someone explain to me the difference between requiring Americans to have a Real ID to get on a plane and asking them to show that same Real ID in order to vote? Why isn't it a hardship to get a copy of your marriage license or birth certificate in order to get a Real ID but it is in order to vote for the leader of the free world? Make it make sense, please!

@ChristianWFreed @LaNativePatriot Duh! That way it gets punted up to the experts. If the person was a proper voter, hey, their vote was recorded. And if not, it won't be. Most people on the front lines of voting are quickly trained. They should handle only the 99% of the normal cases.

@LaNativePatriot In North Carolina they told us when I went to the training to run the voting that we weren't allowed to turn anyone away from voting. Illegals and whatnot would have their ballots placed in 'special' bags and sent off to state election HQ. I quit after that class.

@LaNativePatriot There was a super weird issue -- a person voted in both a Washington and Oregon election and was caught. A judge noted that since there was no overlap between the two elections, they weren't the "same" election. That was in January. Here it is March, and the loophole is closed.

@libsoftiktok Untrue. It requires an enhanced REAL ID, which most states don't do. A documented immigrant is allowed to get driver's licenses includes REAL ID driver licenses.

Democrat Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez pushes the LIE that you can't use a Real ID to vote. The SAVE Act specifically states you can use a Real ID to vote. All Democrats do is LIE.

@jesseproudman Why is this hard? Because "what is an election" is conceptually simple, but in practice it's hard. For example: can a voter vote in a federal election in one state, but also in an EU election? Or in a federal election in one state, but a state election in a different state?

@jesseproudman Because there was a super weirdo court case involving Washington and Oregon. A voter decided that since the elections had nothing in common, they could vote in both. The court found that our existing definition of an election was sufficiently wonky that it didn't prohibit it.

@jesseproudman That court case is State v. Padrta and was decided January 6, 2026 by the Washington Division II Court of Appeals. Within months, our legislature clarified the law.

@tedcruz Amazingly, the words "reduce" and "ban" aren't actually synonyms. They mean very different things. Reduce means that if before, a county ate a thousands tons of beef, they now eat less than that. Ban means that now they eat none.

I think it is actually correct that government documents should in all cases refer to biological sex, since biological sex regulates the stuff the state cares most about, i.e. health and healthcare utilization, criminality, etc. Whatever social gender may be, the state should only see sex.
Kelsey Piper@KelseyTuoc

This has been very frustrating to me. Republican states are moving to retroactively invalidate drivers' licenses the state issued, make it illegal for private businesses to set their own bathroom policies as they see fit, and ban adults from transitioning.
