This has been the new design for going on four years. It was never about cost reduction, but about order flow and efficiency (especially with mobile orders and delivery). I can’t tell the difference when looking at food cost who has the machines behind the counter or in the lobby, I haven’t seen a material difference between the two. 99% of the time people think it’s to reduced cost, but putting that behind the counter costs about $15,000 more.

People get upset when I push back on the notion that soda costs “pennies” to make. I compared the contribution margin on a Large Fanta to the average contribution margin in my restaurant. The difference - 10.4% (not absolute). Higher, yes, but nowhere near the windfall most people imagine, so stealing a drink is similar to stealing food. It does cost pennies - pennies per oz

People who get all these little cartoony tattoos evenly spaced out across their skin are just dumbfounding. Did you just flip through the books on the tattoo shop wall with a highlighter and pick the ones you like?

So long, America🫡🇺🇸 49 days ago we landed in the USA to follow our country at the World Cup. We had no idea it would turn into the trip of a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who followed along, and to all the people we met who made this journey even more special. We honestly don’t have the words to express how grateful we are for everything you did for us. This trip exceeded every expectation we had. We came here with an open mind, wanting to experience as much of the country as possible. I still remember telling my friends on the flight to Atlanta that I hoped we’d get to meet a few locals on this trip. Now we’re flying home with friends all across the USA. Before we came, we heard so many stereotypes and warnings about America. People told us about safety concerns, that they might check our social media at the border, and all kinds of other things. None of it matched our experience. This was probably the most welcoming country we’ve ever visited. So if you have the chance to travel, do it. The world isn’t nearly as bad as the media often makes it seem. 99% of people are awesome! I heard this quote somewhere during the World Cup, and I think it sums up our experience perfectly: “If you want to hate the world, watch the news. If you want to love it, travel it.” Thank you, America ❤️🇺🇸

The LCRA has announced that floodgate operations at Mansfield Dam on Lake Travis will begin on Saturday. They plan to begin hydroelectric discharge today, then open 1 floodgate at 6 a.m. Saturday, and then a second gate at 1 p.m. Saturday. As I type this at 2:45 PM on Friday, Lake Travis has risen about 8 feet from last night and is at an elevation of 679.65 feet. It is expected to continue rising to what is considered full pool (681 feet) later today, and then rise to a range of 685 to 686 feet on Saturday according to the latest projections from the LCRA. A reminder that while considered full pool at 681 feet, Lake Travis has a built in 33 foot flood pool to hold additional flood waters and help manage downstream releases during flood events. The last time Lake Travis was full was July of 2019.

@countercurrentz @teachthemx3 So, the kids who master topics quickly don’t get to advance their knowledge, instead they’re used as tools to manage other kids. This is giving big “put responsible girls next to disruptive boys to help manage their behavior” energy.

If a student has already mastered a concept, they shouldn’t be sent to another room with a packet while the teacher works with struggling students.

@headmasterbeth @DrLauraReames @teachthemx3 We used Bridges and our "extension" was just Concept Quests. Which were ineffective for some students. That's my entire point. Different students need different things. I'm getting blasted on twitter over this when it's just one tool in my toolbox. I'm not running a sweatshop 😆

@countercurrentz @DrLauraReames @teachthemx3 I’d say it depends on how often you’re using this strategy, but as a student who was in the “tutor” position without extension, I feel cheated. This role also tends to fall on female students, so I would encourage you to think about it more.
