@ctangio my income is no where near 200k 😆 - I will be doing a tweet on my total income last tax year and how I strive to be more tax efficient. Stay tuned 😆

SIPP vs Salary Sacrifice 🇬🇧 (HENRY perspective): I lean SIPP — here’s why: With a Defined Benefit pension (e.g. NHS Pension Scheme), salary sacrifice can reduce pensionable pay → smaller guaranteed income (if not protected). SIPP 👇 • Access ~57 • Full control • Doesn’t touch DB pension calculation Salary sacrifice 👇 • Big tax + NI savings • But ties more money into pension • May impact DB outcomes + borrowing power Both are powerful. But I’d rather protect guaranteed income… and build flexibility on the side. Are you optimising for tax today or income tomorrow? Do you use any of this tools?

@DrHenryinvestor Well yes, £60k assuming income <£200k. That situation changes rapidly when income exceeds this, with pension growth calculations both complicated and unpredictable. Hence, I’d strongly advise specialist advice when calculating unused AA

@ctangio I keep getting this comment 😆. Yearly total pension allowance is 60k and you can use the last 3 years allowance . I am nowhere exhausting this 😆. The way to know is to get your pension statements over the last 3 years and see how much leeway you got.

Called 101 to Give an update on the device and its location movement Police state they can’t act - unless exact flat number in address 🤣 I said it’ll probably be on a flight out of the UK next - she said - probably right 🤣 To make a complaint about the police inaction I asked who do I speak to? Call 101 That’s what I’ve called Oh, no you call again. Is it a different extension? No 🤣 Met police is a joke

@ctangio @iDrSunny Your right we live in an utterly lawless society. Chipping Norton looks like Mad Max fury road these days. Although it is weird how we now live in a lawless society but all types of crime are either down or basically the sames as 2005. #homicide" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulati…

@nursebro01 @iDrSunny No, the police exist to uphold the law. Theft is against the law. Your whole attitude is exactly how we’ve ended up as a lawless society. That might be acceptable for you, but it’s not for me.

@ctangio @iDrSunny Take better car of your shit. If you know where it is go get your shit. If you cant be bothered then get new shit. The Police exist to protect the public and deal with serious criminals. Not an all purpose retrieval service for people that cant keep their stuff safe.

I don’t know any clinician who values the opinions of @NHSEngland & its leaders. It is inappropriate for NHSE to interfere in industrial action. The optics of a senior clinician who has better salary & pension than our residents could aspire to, telling them not to strike - are terrible. I’m embarrassed for you @svig2

@agdyker Your pension is vastly better than current residents, both because of the pension itself and because your salary was higher during your working life In that context, it's ridiculous to take time out of your busy schedule to lecture Residents That's the point

@Ajouk @FinancialMBChB @TheBMA I agree re early retirement, but people do take a hefty income hit for the privilege. Young doctors do start on modest pay, but this is substantially lower in real terms than 2008. Not the case in the private sector and the main point of the strike

@ctangio @FinancialMBChB @TheBMA All I would say is that being a highly qualified professional does not mean that you should expect early retirement as a right. There are highly qualified professionals who aren't medics. I can see your second point but I repeat young professionals tend to start on low pay.

The Government has suggested a pay uplift of just 2.5% for doctors next year, well below inflation. With resident doctors set to strike next month over pay and jobs, it is “frankly indefensible that yet another Government is once again suggesting real-terms pay cut for doctors," says @thomasdolphin Full response: bma.org.uk/bma-media-cent…

@Ajouk @FinancialMBChB @TheBMA As they should, they’re highly qualified professionals. But these early retirees also belong to a ‘golden’ cohort of high wages and low housing/living costs. It’s a very different situation for doctors today

@ctangio @FinancialMBChB @TheBMA I don't know them personally therefore talking generally. However, I know that legacy DB pensions have a normal retirement date and if the person retires earlier, then there is a reduction. This suggests strongly that they can afford to do so

@Ajouk @FinancialMBChB @TheBMA Do you think perhaps these doctors are on a legacy scheme that isn’t linked to state pension age? A scheme that has been closed to any new members since 2015?

AJ@Ajouk·
@ctangio @FinancialMBChB @TheBMA Not at all. Like other DB Pension Schemes, the normal retirement date is the state pension age and a reducing factor is applied if you retire early. Despite this the numbers of Doctors retiring before NPA are increasing. Must be a good scheme! bmjgroup.com/more-doctors-i…

@FinancialMBChB @TheBMA Are you sure about that? The NHS Pension Scheme is not a defined contribution plan — it’s a defined benefit (DB) pension, meaning: You earn a guaranteed pension for life, based on your salary and years of service (or career average earnings in the modern scheme).

@theradgeygadgey @Kashus27 Where have you parroted this from? A basic Google search will tell you that the NHS pension is linked to state pension age and has been for more than 10 years. And training jobs are getting scarcer by the minute bma.org.uk/bma-media-cent…

@NeedleJock @GillianDowning2 @sumitriptan @wesstreeting Why should the taxpayer fund c£250k of training, which is non-repayable by the recipient, only for that recipient to then up and leave the NHS? Where is the RoI for the public purse in that?

I graduated as a doctor 4 years ago with ~£100k of debt, and despite working up to 72 hours a week, my debt has only increased. Doctors are being paid £17/hour and have to make loan repayments and pay thousands for exams and fees. We are only asking for £23/hour. @wesstreeting
