A Pakroache tried to troll me. 🇵🇰🪳 He found and leaked my company financials. 29% return on equity. I got 2 investor calls out of it. Keep going. Every hater is just a bad marketer working for me rent-free. 🔥

@prakdadlani Honestly, judging by his content he got blackpilled because of the municipality issues in Pune which even I as a BJP supporter will admit that there's a lot of work to do here. His heart genuinely does seem in the right place, he's just ignorant about politics n stuff.

Life becomes 100x more enjoyable when you play it like a video game. When you recognize that you have the free will to do literally anything you want and start living like it. Step outside of all your limiting beliefs and realize that you have the power as well as the right to create anything you desire. Exercise this right relentlessly with wild self belief. Become the person you’ve always wanted to be. Build the life of your wildest dreams. Don't hold back. Don't settle. Be borderline greedy and dream huge. Collect the fruits that life's always had to offer you, and that you now have the vision to see.

the studio responsible for a historically accurate hyper-detailed meter-for-meter recreation of 16km^2 recreation of the Czech countryside (and maybe the best sword combat system I’ve ever seen) is making an RPG set in Middle Earth throw out all your blackpills and buy a new GPU

Here is a huge positive to modern life that gets no press. I have an old 2009 Toyota, and the AUX port crapped out about a year ago. Went to YouTube. Young, enthusiastic guy explains how to fix it. It is not obvious - involves taking the dashboard apart in a counter-intuitive way, but once you see it, it's a 15 minute fix. There are actually dozens of videos showing how to do this, and they collectively have well over 200k views. Had this happened in 1995, I would have just lived with it. But the combo of the replacement AUX jack available from Amazon and the video of the simple (but not obvious) fix, I fixed it. I HAVE DONE THIS DOZENS OF TIMES. Replaced the control panel of my dishwasher. Replaced the ice maker in the fridge. Fixed a wonky sanding head on my drill press. Mastered a bandsaw technique that I use for my sculpture. On and on and on... I think it is likely no exaggeration to say billions of fixes and skill upgrades have been performed worldwide that would not have been performed if it were not for the instruction freely given peer-to-peer on YouTube. Take a moment to be happy about this. The busted item keeps performing, rather than going to the landfill. The person learning and doing the fix gains a sense of mastery and saves money. It's an unmixed blessing. Stop doomscrolling. Think of what is busted in your house, find the YouTube video on how to fix it, and fix it.

The higher you climb the corporate ladder, the more relationships matter. At entry level, your output is visible. You do the work, it shows up. It gets seen and you get a raise and promotion. At director and above, almost none of your work is visible. You're not doing the hands on dirty work, or at least in large amounts. You're making decisions in a room with a few people and the results show up 6 months later. Nobody can trace them back to you. So how do they decide who belongs in those rooms? They pick people they already know. Not "know of." Know. People they worked with and have seen operate under pressure. That person gets the call more times than not over the stranger with the better resume. The stakes are higher, so the trust threshold is higher. A bad hire at $70K is annoying. A bad hire at $300K who controls a $50M budget is catastrophic. And yeah, it's political. Not in the "office politics is a game" way. In the "if you make a mistake at this level, it doesn't just hit you, it hits your boss, your boss's boss, and so forth. So people protect themselves by surrounding themselves with people whose body of work they've seen firsthand. This is why "networking" advice misses the point. The goal isn't to collect contacts. The goal is to do good work with good people so that when a seat opens at their next company, your name is the first one they think of.

Countries get the cabinets they pay for. Singapore pays its Foreign Minister about S$1.1m, around US$800,000. The salary is benchmarked to 60% of the median income of the top 1,000 Singaporean earners. That is why you can get Vivian Balakrishnan, former eye surgeon and hospital chief executive, implementing @karpathy's external brain idea (link below). The speech shows deep understanding of AI and fills one with confidence about Singapore's future. The UK Foreign Secretary earns roughly £165,000: the MP salary plus a ministerial salary of about £67,000. The ministerial part is frozen since the crisis and is down by roughly a third in real terms since 2010. This is what a junior Magic Circle lawyer earns. Spain pays its ministers around €85,000. So you do not get a surgeon who has run hospitals. You get a party loyalist who has never run anything.

Singapore’s Foreign Minister, Dr Balakrishnan casually explaining how he built his own AI agent (a 2nd brain for diplomacy) using Claude & WhatsApp integration etc. on a Raspberry Pi “You cannot govern a technology you have only been briefed on.” 🇸🇬

When an outsider aka a newbie climbs a mango tree, they usually just shake all the branches hoping the fruits will fall and can be gathered. The logic is partially correct. When done with unripe khatta mangoes, everyone goes home happy with some achaar. But when the fruit is ripe, shaking the branch will just make the soft fruit fall and burst open. Can't be eaten or sold. Tamil Nadu as an industrial state has ripe fruits. Such states aka trees require people who know how to climb not just trunk, but also how to reach the far end of the branches for positive returns. Otherwise shaking the tree aka system is of no value, and if luck really is bad, the fruit will fall on someone's head creating collateral damage.

I have never seen any of @actorvijay movies. And since he has given no interviews - one doesn't know his mind. But I generally view the rise of an outsider with optimism. The outsider disrupts and shakes the system. And India's entrenched rotten system needs it.
