Running a homelab with scattered logins gets old fast. I wanted one identity provider, minimal overhead, and passkeys instead of passwords. Pocket ID has become the "set it up and forget it" auth layer for my self-hosted stack. cweagans.net/2026/03/authen…

@Dracoboy94 @jakkuh_t You have < 100 followers. When you have more people listening to you, the calculus changes. You only get to say so many words in your lifetime. Would *you* want to spend your time saying the same thing to multiple people if you could just broadcast the message and be done w/ it?

@jakkuh_t My brother I get it but see it as the perspective of (for the sake of my example) me a dumb viewer who sees this type of interaction very negatively. No matter from whom and leads me to not wanting to watch the content that I enjoy which is pretty stupid but remember I’m “stupid”

I asked for the clips from my personal channel to be cut out of the “how LTT spends money” video because the first clip was placed at a strange time that a bunch of people interpreted as me still working there / rejoining the company. I even had a family member make the same mistake. The clips were also used in the video without asking or letting me know. Most times I wouldn’t super care as long as the clip is used in relevant context, but I think discussion of past employees in a video talking about wages, addressing current staff, and making decisive statements about capitalism is kinda weird without their consent, and it made me uncomfortable. With that in mind, I asked them to remove my clips, which they’re doing. I wasn’t expecting LTT to make a whole community post about it, yelling it from the treetops, but I did expect a pinned comment based on their usual policies for making corrections. I’m not sure the motive for doing so, but ya. I’m not trying to be ungrateful for my time at LTT, I had access to and was able to learn about so much cool stuff I wouldn’t have otherwise and for that will be forever grateful. It’s just time to move on, maybe not in perfect form, but feelings are hard. Love y’all. I’m sorry this caused some people to be upset, but drama wasn’t the intention.

@jasonfried Ah, okay. That guy you quote tweeted claimed there was MCP. I know it’s not AI by itself, but only AI users would really care about MCP, so I would consider it an AI feature (esp for marketing purposes)

@cweagans Don’t have MCP, we do have an API. MCP may happen tool. But no MCP is not AI, it’s a protocol.

Man, @delta is the gift that just keeps on giving (derogatory). This is the second time in a row that we've scheduled an early flight, had it severely delayed and ultimately cancelled, and had it fuck up our vacation. I'm *so* tired of airline companies being so fucking awful.

@markszymik @JackEllis I did. 300+ fairly busy applications. On call sucked at first, but we invested in fixing the applications and after that, I got paged maybe three times a year? Took vacations, sick days, etc. Most things can wait a day or two if you engineer things right.

@JackEllis @markszymik Dedicated server, VPS, serverless…it doesn’t matter. The specific number of people needed for your on call rotation is dictated primarily by your application, not the specific type of hosting.

@cweagans @markszymik Skill issue is being on call for your company for dedicated server related issues. Why wouldn’t you just use VPS’ or serverless?

@markszymik @JackEllis Skill issue, imo. Use boring tech and engineer your system to minimize what the on call actually gets paged for. You can get by with one person for a looooooong time (without overworking them too).

@JackEllis Same. We are not Amazon and we are not Basecamp. For custom infra - you need at least 3-4 people on call to cover 24/7 availability, holidays, sick days, leavers etc.

@cweagans @wagslane @ThePrimeagen Well few things (could be just applicable to me only) , he speaks very fast while covering complicated concepts, he doesn’t focus on breaking down things for simplicity etc . FYI I am a big fan of Primeagen, just not of his teaching! Again thats my ”Personal opinion”
