@JeffBezos No, it's not. We have well over half a MILLION homeless people living in the US today, many of which are children. Many of those don't even know where their next meal is coming from. Cancel the space programs and solve Hunger and homelessness here first. THEN worry about space.

All personnel are accounted for and safe. It’s too early to know the root cause but we’re already working to find it. Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it.

I find it INCREDIBLY hard to believe that Melania Trump just suddenly thought it was a good idea to bring the spotlight back to Trump/Epstein after it had faded over the last 6 weeks, merely to cry about how she was not involved. It's almost as if she is trying to get ahead of a bombshell story that is about to drop. @elonmusk If physicalism is true, then minds - phenomenally bound subjects of experience - cannot arise at different levels of computational abstraction. So if you’re conscious, then you can know that you’re living in base reality.

I had dinner once with a top physicist and a top computer scientist and asked what they thought the probability was that we were in a simulation. They answered simultaneously at 0% and 100% respectively. It was like a double-slit experiment, but with humans.

@mnovendstern Indeed. Currently over a billion humans worldwide are clinically or subclinically depressed. Lost output is immense. I focus on the suffering involved, but the economic impact of hedonic uplift will be far-reaching and profound.

Impressive Elon's so productive then––happiness and productivity clearly correlate, at least when you're taking the next action. For example, people are more productive when tipsy, I suspect, mostly just because they're happier, and this pushes the net pain of work above the activation threshold for taking action. We're all probably running at least -15% happiness, given what was evolutionarily conserved in our ancestral life distribution. This is tractable to fix.

For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years. The mission of SpaceX remains the same: extend consciousness and life as we know it to the stars. It is only possible to travel to Mars when the planets align every 26 months (six month trip time), whereas we can launch to the Moon every 10 days (2 day trip time). This means we can iterate much faster to complete a Moon city than a Mars city. That said, SpaceX will also strive to build a Mars city and begin doing so in about 5 to 7 years, but the overriding priority is securing the future of civilization and the Moon is faster.
