@JeremyChelot @indy_singh_uk @youfibre Thanks for sharing. Teams has been a catastrophic nightmare all day today, so this clarifies things somewhat. Good luck - if you're looking for a culprit, it's probably a disgruntled customer who's tried to contact your support teams recently ;-)

@nicholassm69197 @Omar_Alsh_ @NoContextHumans 9 times out of 10, the card machine is pre-entered with the correct, exact amount and proffered for you to pay with phone or card with no option to tip. You pay what you owe. Yes, some restaurants now add incl. service charge, but if they suck, you can be sure it's being removed!

@nicholassm69197 @Omar_Alsh_ @NoContextHumans Honestly, it's mostly correct. I don't tip for the vast majority of my regular interactions (and nor should I), with the only possible exceptions being good service in a restaurant (and even then, I wouldn't generally tip for lunch, for example) or a "keep the change" in a taxi.

@nigelreynolds @SarahWoods66 By steam. Of course, by then the trucks are empty so it's significantly lighter. Running a constant, even gradient downhill allows for much heavier loads to be moved than would be possible with even modest uphill gradients on the route. A masterclass in surveying and engineering!

@SarahWoods66 If it is powered purely by gravity when it goes to Porthmadog how do they return it to its start point?

‘Here it comes!’ This mornings 10:35 am gravity slate train. It’s hard to believe that it runs downhill for 10 miles all the way down to Porthmadog powered solely by gravity

@marksandspencer Any idea when your IT outage is likely to be resolved? Just turned away from collecting a parcel and it would be good to know if we can get it later today.

@aegonukcares Well, that's now three months running without my pension payment being credited to my account. Aegon still refuse to even give timescales to resolve, or even be overly bothered about the fact that this has been going on for over 6 months now. Pathetic.

@Mastery_Light @tduncanr327 @LinkofSunshine I appreciate that you are there and I am not (UK), but when I'm travelling to NL I pay for everything on CC using Google Pay and I'm yet to have a terminal make the death-beep of denial. Amex, yes this is rarely accepted outside of hospitality, but Visa and MC seem universal.

@MurelikKodanik @Hugo_Kendiss It works just fine, thanks. As, indeed, does the post-Brexit "GHIC" card which does a very similar thing. I was able to get my ankle x-rayed, checked by a doctor, bandaged up and sent on my way in a couple of hours while on holiday in Spain with no fuss, bother or money.

@twonoteswivel @fesshole I made a formal complaint against a Morrisons driver who was racing around our local housing estate like he was in a grand prix...on Halloween when the streets were literally covered in kids wearing dark clothes. He got a bollocking from me and a complaint. No regrets.

I'm a delivery driver for a supermarket. I've had 2 incidents that make me think the world has gone nuts.1)There were 8 items out of stock/ subbed and the person actually cried.2) I was 20 minutes later than planned and the customer tried to get me fired. It's groceries ffs.

@AmazonUK Well that's the second order in 3 months of a high-value, electronic item where the van has driven past my door and shortly after the item has been marked as "damaged in transit". The parcels are clearly labelled as "needs PIN to deliver" and the drivers are nicking them!

Better deliveries with fewer vehicles on the road. It’s possible - here’s how👇

@FirstWestYorks Communication is absolutely essential to providing something close to a decent customer service and saying "it happened, sorry" just isn't good enough. I'll look forward to hearing a more comprehensive response by return.

@FirstWestYorks Stood waiting for the 34 at stop 35014770. Bus is already 25 mins late and website has just gone from "due" to "45 minutes" without explanation. Utter rubbish.

@FirstWestYorks I think you're missing the point here. Breakdowns and other things can happen, but had we been aware that the service was cancelled we wouldn't have waited for 40 minutes. Can you tell me why there was no notification of the cancellation on the live bus times website?

@thomasforth There's enormous scope for economic expansion solely along the M62 corridor between Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. Focusing investment (of any sort!) here will certainly reap rewards. And we don't even need to screw up the peak district to do it :-)

England has two potential megacity urban areas. Both about 20 million people. Both 200km across. We've already built the blue circle, centred on London, a very strong economy. We could built the red one if we wanted. Currently it's a very weak economy.
