I worked for a while at a major Swiss bank. Their building was designed with AC on the sunny side, and the underground car park entry on the other side. They decided they wanted the car park entry on the opposite side of the building, so flipped the plans 180’ leaving the AC in the shade…!

I live near Elvington and they have a fair few motorsports events on there. Last week I was running, listening to Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors, and as I got near the airfield The Chain came on - the old F1 theme music, with the sound of screaming engines coming over from the runway - epic vibes.

@GarethDennis Calling Swiss fares “high” is also ludicrous. For about £170 invested in a Halbtax you can travel half price for a year. For about £3700 you can get a railpass for the entire rail, bus, and boat network for an entire year. All you can ride. Conpare that to a UK season ticket.

Bringing up the 27% load factors on the Swiss railway network as a bad thing (rather than a key factor in Switzerland having one of the highest mode shares for passenger rail on the planet) is very funny to me.

@RobinShipston @DeborahMeaden That argument does not negate the fact that there are alternatives. Car parks would be my forst location. Vast areas covered by nothing but concrete and white lines.

@DeborahMeaden I sympathise that it’s a loss of visual amenity for some people and that sucks. However the argument that it is taking up prime farm land (half of it is) doesn’t stack up because it’s a very small percentage and yields have been impacted by climate change by greater % already.
