In Sussex, we renewed over one mile of rail at Pouparts Junction near Clapham Junction 🛤️ 🚧We also completed emergency landslip works at Ockley. A nine‑metre section of embankment gave way, leaving one of the tracks suspended. Our teams installed 47 steel piles and 324 soil nails to stabilise and strengthen the embankment 🛠️🌧️ A huge thank you to passengers for bearing with us as we completed these vital works and to our hardworking engineers, frontline teams and support staff who kept these vital projects moving throughout the weekend. Your dedication makes a real difference 👏🙏💙 2/2 🧵

Our teams were out across Kent and Sussex this weekend improving the railway for @Se_Railway and @SouthernRailUK customers 🚆💪 🔀At Dartford, we kicked off our 9‑day programme renewing switches and crossings as part of a £10m investment in new track. We’re replacing 10 switches and crossings and installing 400 yards of new rail and conductor rail to boost reliability between Slade Green and Dartford 🔧✨ 🚉Near Ashford in Kent, we also laid around one mile of new rail. ❌Elsewhere in Kent, engineers rebuilt the Isle of Grain crossing, replacing the rails with a more robust, modern system to better withstand the heavy freight traffic that uses this route. The upgrade will improve safety and reliability for both road users and rail operators 🚧🔋 1/2🧵

OCKLEY: Disruption is now expected until Monday 16th February after a landslip damaged the railway between Horsham and Dorking. The slip, on an embankment to the south of Ockley station, has meant that the two tracks on the line have been left impassable by trains - but Network Rail and its contractors are working around the clock to repair the embankment. @SouthernRailUK customers are advised to check before they travel for the next few weeks, as there will be changes to train services. During the closure, rail replacement buses and ticket acceptance with a local bus operator will continue to be in operation until the work is complete and lines reopen. @danielbishop28 @SW_Help @swtrains_watch @transportgovuk Before you get too smug, though, presumably you are familiar with the fact that best laid plans can get waylaid? Or with the concept of arriving at a station early and realising you can catch an earlier train on your ticket?

Hi @SW_Help @swtrains_watch @transportgovuk - the dispatcher at #Waterloo aggressively blew the whistle and made me board with my bike before I reached the bike carriage. The train then left 30s early, leaving me in an awkward and obstructive position.

@japritchard @SW_Help @swtrains_watch @transportgovuk It is clearly advertised, that at the majority of stations across the SWR network, train doors are locked 30 seconds before departure time, although at busy stations, such as London Waterloo, this can be up to 2 minutes before. My advice would be to not leave it until the (1/2)

@wobblyclark @UKLabour @SW_Help This was far from ideal, and I sympathise with the delay to your journey, it was the only way of getting trains through. Now the engineering works are completed, the line in the affected area, has now been closed until at least the end of service this Friday, to allow clear up.

@wobblyclark @UKLabour @SW_Help The diversionary route. Trains between Victoria and Gatwick, were being severely delayed at Dorking, due to having to wait for a member of Network Rail staff to arrive on the service the opposite direction, to guide the driver through the affected area at caution. Hey @UKLabour you're supposed to be big on trains, & looking out for passengers. How are Southwest Trains able to charge full fares on a severely degraded service to Gatwick from Victoria & then train appears to be terminating in Dorking. What do you say @SW_Help no patronising

Tonight I’m voting to take back control of our railways through the publicly owned Great British Railways. That will mean less delays; simple, modern ticketing; and a railway accountable to the public. Thanks to the Government plans, passengers will always come first, not profits.
