@delfender Flip side is a lot of the Premier League isn't that good. Doesn't take much to be top half/near the European places. We were absolutely rancid in the league last season and still had a chance of Europe going into the last week of the season.

If we lose Gordon, Tonali, Bruno, Hall & Joelinton in this window & only replace them with unproven players, that's quite something. We're basically starting from scratch & it'll take years imo, to get back to where we were. I guess you could call it exciting. Also, terrifying.

@MsiDouglas How many can you see coming in after Hornicek, Mark? full-back(s), maybe 3rd choice keeper and Bruno replacement?

Got back some positive feedback from some initial messages / chats - can expect front foot football & tactical flexibility. #nufc certainly won't be predictable next season from what you hear. This has been the summer of a hard reset. Lots of pain & some more of that to come I fear (Bruno G). But also new blood, new ideas. Let's see what happens in next month...

@danjpeg @SamFonsecaa He improved alot, he helped braga alot in the build up stepping up to give passing options to the defense and linking play with the midfield, he also is composed with the ball on his feet,I never felt safer watching braga games,he is young but looks so mature for his age

Newcastle are getting a goalkeeper who is ready to be the number one right now, but still a huge ceiling. Since being the number one for 2 seasons, Lukáš Horníček has become a great shot stopper, excelling in big games domestically and in Europe for Braga. A fantastic signing.

@kevinaraujof @SamFonsecaa Thanks mate, good to hear. Sounds a very all-rounded 'keeper. Can't be many worse in the modern game that Pope for kicking, as good a shot-stopper as he has been in the past.

@danjpeg @SamFonsecaa Calm presence (biggest contrast to Ramsdale chaotic style and Pope's form) and is comfortable stepping forward to distribute but certainly one who opts to play safer when short and arguably better playing longer. Braga are ball dominant and he's certainly not a detriment.

@SamFonsecaa How would you describe him with his feet? Assume it's not his best attribute but I will bet he's better than our current number 1..

I thought a natural next step for Lukáš Horníček would be a move in the league, to one of the big 3, but no doubt he’s earned this move. With Braga signing Bernardo Fontes, it seems it’s a win win for everyone involved

@EggusMaximus According to that he's flying to London for his medical. Maybe the details are of that are wrong with them not realising we're in Spain etc.

@CryptoCraig18 @Im_RobM Not sure they even class Gillespie as any sort of option. If anything, Harris will probably be used as 3rd if they don't bring some Ruddy-type in for nothing/pennies.

@danjpeg @Im_RobM I don't think we sign a 3rd GK. Hornicek, Jaouen and Gillespie will be the 3. A RCB that plays RB would be ideal, like an Achemapong, Chalobah, etc as they can replace Schar next season as RCB and be cover for Tino when he gets injured this season.
