Israel’s move to the right in terms of security lately is a rediscovery rather than change. Its leading political parties had drifted and led Israel leftward for decades, starting with Labor (Mapai). Until Oct 7 and reality struck. Israelis instantly knew they had to fall back on older understandings and instincts. Its leadership is getting it slowly, starting on the right but even its centrist politicians are getting it too now, but it’s taking longer.
