"On your deathbed, you won't wish that you spent more time working..."
Rewind the clock 12 hours from writing this, and I had just walked out of my office after bombing out in a business opportunity.
Feeling quite unpleasant, I made my way upstairs to refill my water bottle.
While filling the bottle, my second youngest boy blasts a song through the Bluetooth speakers.
In that moment, four of my five children sing loudly in unison a song by 21 Pilots as they all do their chores.
Three seconds later, with the biggest smile on my face, I joined in, and the thought crossed my mind...
"On your deathbed, you won't wish that you spent more time working...But I will think about moments like this."

I haven’t read the entirety of your reply but I want to respond to this:
“don't project, man. you say you have "little interest in sassy back and forths" but you literally replied to my post with "rage bait." lol. that's not disinterest. that's you taking a swing, missing, and then pretending you weren't trying.”
That wasn’t sass.
I replied “ragebait” for a few reasons.
1. The tone of your descriptions of Paul.
2. You saying I look like I bought the hype and was defending him to close your first reply.
3. Your choice to write/communicate as if you have inerrant knowledge of one’s motives, intentions, and thinking.(mine/Paul)
Speaking to them as you have in your replies with such confidence through this medium(text), is unwise, or at least makes it uncertain know whether you’re someone who sees a positive usefulness in back and forth with strangers or just want to spar and try to dunk on folks. Lol.
Based on all of this i leaned to the latter, as it’s common today and replied “ragebait.”
Nothing to do with swinging & missing, and trying to save face.
Swinging and missing is nothing to run from. I’d be fine with a stranger enlightening me on how I’ve done so.
I was the one who engaged first so that’s always a possibility.
I will now read the rest of your message.

don't project, man. you say you have "little interest in sassy back and forths" but you literally replied to my post with "rage bait." lol. that's not disinterest. that's you taking a swing, missing, and then pretending you weren't trying.
you're right that the ufc isn't dying. i said that. we agree. but here's where you're bending over backwards to give jake credit he doesn't deserve: his critique wasn't "the white house card was weak on american representation." his critique was that dana white isn't "smart enough" and that the ufc is dying because a spaniard beat an american on a "patriotic" card. that's not a critical position on the product. that's him admitting he would rig a fight for nationalist reasons.
you can separate his personal feelings from his business observations if you want. but when he says "why not pay jon jones?" jon jones is a domestic abuser who's been suspended multiple times for cheating. if that's his idea of a patriotic hero, his business judgment is suspect too.
jake paul understands how to sell a fight. he doesn't understand how to run a promotion. there's a difference. you're giving him credit for the former and pretending it applies to the latter.
English

quite the opposite. I just have little interest in sassy back and forths or irrelevant accusations.
you appear to have strong personal feeling towards what Paul does or how he does thing. I don’t. His opinions were not on the sport of MMA at large, but the ufc product, and him unwisely showing his cards in how he feels about Dana personally.
You are right that the ufc is not dying. He is wrong there. Their numbers refute that. That said his points on the White House are not invalid, regardless of how we might feel about his level of national pride, the promotional angle of Dana and UFC for the event is one of patriotism so a card that is weak in America representation or box office draws is a bad, or not smart idea.
The reach of the UFC has grown globally, but that does not mean the product has remained as strong in recent years, when Adesanya, Jones, Peiera, Islam, Khamzat aren’t fighting.
Again he’s wrong that it’s dying but he can have a critical position on the product, with his background being not one of MMA expert.
English

jake paul's opinion on the ufc's business model might have some surface-level validity, but it falls apart the second you apply any actual scrutiny.
"he's not talking about the sport, he's talking about the product/company" okay, but his critique was that dana white isn't "smart enough" and that the ufc is dying because a spaniard beat an american on a "patriotic" card. that's not business analysis. that's him admitting he would rig a fight for nationalist reasons. that's not market dynamics. that's crybaby energy. sorry.
"same issue boxing has, which allowed him to come in and find a strong position" jake paul didn't fix boxing. he exploited it. he fights retired nba players, former ufc fighters past their prime, and influencers. he's not a boxer. he's a youtuber who figured out that people will pay to watch a spectacle. that's not innovation. that's a carnival shit.
"he understands consumer behavior and market dynamics" sure. he understands that outrage and spectacle sell and goofs will buy it. so does every grifter on social media. that doesn't make his take on the ufc correct. the ufc is not dying. it's thriving. jake paul just doesn't like that they're not booking the fights he wants to see.
he's not wrong about everything. but he's not right about this. and defending him just makes you look like you bought the hype.
English

His opinion is valid because he is not talking about the sport; he is talking about the product/company that brings the sport to customers. His assessment is more on point than you may want to acknowledge, but he is not far off.
It's the same issue boxing still has, which allowed him to come in and find a strong position.
He does not have to be the MMA expert. He understands consumer behavior and market dynamics.
English

@HappyPunch jake paul is a youtuber who fights retired nba players and calls himself a boxer. his opinion on mma is worth less than the fake hype he generates for his own freakshow fights. dana white has his problems, but at least he built an actual sport. jake paul built a circus.

Daniel Gafford’s shirt said “faith isn’t for the weak”
On what this means to him:
“I didn’t even really see what it had said until you said something about it, but, I mean, faith isn’t for the weak because God gives his tests to his strongest soldiers. Most definitely, and I really can’t go deep into that, with the stuff that’s going on with the Ivey situation…We’re gonna keep it at that point.”

The worst advice nobody questions:
You need to love yourself before you can truly love another.
It’s wicked advice.
You already love yourself first above all.
Our name is our favorite sound.
“I” and “my” are the words we use most frequently.
(excluding “the”)
And it’s rare that you find someone who gives their opinion without first being asked for it.
(I’m doing it now.)
If anything we may lack self-respect or self-discipline, not self-love.
The are few things you’ve done in life that YOU didn’t want to.
That’s why we nod in agreement when we hear someone say this.
It also why self-sacrifice is esteemed so highly and is a powerful force.
You already love yourself first.
The real question is can you love another as you love yourself?
English

"Tell your story."
You've heard it a thousand times. And it's true.
But here's what actually happens:
You fall down a rabbit hole studying frameworks and 'viral' formulas.
Very quickly, creating content becomes so complicated that you freeze.
I created a simple reframe on story that's helped dozens of people finally hit publish.
It brings you down from the clouds of storytelling theory back to earth:
STORY: Spend Time Offering the Real You
→ Spend Time = Designate time to show up
→ Offering = Give value first
→ the Real You = Leverage your actual experiences and interests for relevance
HOW TO START
Pick ONE domain. Grab your phone and start documenting:
1) DEEP KNOWLEDGE/SKILL
→ How did you learn it? → What did failure teach you? → Who taught you and what stuck? → What are your current systems? → How would you teach it to a child?
The key: Go deep. Make it so actionable that they don't need another resource they won't use.
2) DEEP PASSION
→ What grips you? → What can't you shut up about? → How do you navigate this passion with everything else in your life?
The key: Give them a demo. Show your collection. Nerd out!
3) HELPING THE PAST YOU
→ What can't they see yet? → What do they need to hear? → What got me through? Who helped? →What small details made the difference?
The key: Get vulnerable. Have empathy. Details = gold.
4) WORKING TOWARD SOMETHING
→What exactly am I trying to accomplish? → What's going through your mind right now? → What happens if I fail? → How is this affecting my relationships?
The key: Being unashamed about the messy middle.
5) THOUGHTS ON RECENT EVENTS/BELIEFS
→ What do I truly think? → What shaped my view? → What's my evidence? → Can I explain without being overly emotional?
The key: Seek consideration over engagement.
Cycle through the other stations over time.
THE TRUTH
Once you get it all out of your head, you'll see you have more to share than you thought.
You'll see the pieces of your story are right there.
Your story doesn't need to be perfect.
It comes together in the minds of people as you show up afraid and humble.
And keep showing up.
THE HARDEST PART
It's not quality or format.
Experts can help with that.
It's the courage to start.
And that can't be outsourced.
