@chrislhayes your discussion of the Wall Street journal article about the vibe session suggests that people's anxiety about the economy is misguided. I wonder what you think about this article:thenation.com/article/econom…

@TonyHoWasHere @TheHandyNorway I don't know why you're so squeamish about this toy - you're a ho'
English

For my last piece with The Daily Beast (!!!), I wrote about the stigma surrounding sex toys for dudes.
But the burgeoning world of sex tech is changing that. One such device is @TheHandyNorway, an AI-powered machine that—to put it bluntly—jerks you off.

@zkeefer Great article. I started reading through the comments to see if anyone asked about him reconnecting with his sister and brother; unfortunately I got discouraged by an endless discussion of value signaling. Do you have any information about that?

Ray Davis at the podium today in Indy:
"I wanna be somebody for the kids ... who may not have the resources, the help, the academics, but do have the fight and courage because somebody did it before them. When I make it, I’m gonna go back and make sure they have a platform too."

By eight years old, Ray Davis was a ward of the state. By 12, he was living in a homeless shelter with two of his 14 siblings. At 24, he’s two months from hearing his name called in the NFL Draft. ✍️ @zkeefer details Davis' incredible journey.

@gcaw @TheAtlantic I appreciate your article; I've long wondered how Putin manages to survive, and you explain it well. I do wish you had shown how America and Russia are similar: oligarchs hold the vast portion of wealth, and the rest of us are condemned to visiting Stop& Shop

@1Walid1 @MTCooper1 The only reason I can find, is the argument that Havertz would not have gotten to the ball after his bad touch. Otherwise, I think it should have been called.
English

@MTCooper1 Not at all. Watch it again. The touch put the ball out but he was reaching for it before Mac Allister challenged - and he didn't get the ball

@benbmims I was very sorry to hear that you are included in the latest on round of layoffs. I always looked forward to you articles and recipes. I hope you find more work soon.
English

@JonahDispatch thought experiment: If a political party wants to include on their PRIMARY ballot a 33 year old for POTUS, then who is in the correct position to tell the party (a private entity) that they are including a candidate who is not qualified for the general ballot?
English

FWIW, I don't generally use the word "insurrection" or "incitement" to describe 1/6 because it invites all sorts of legalistic arguments. And I think there are valid legal arguments on both sides. What I have little patience for is all the people who insist that because they -- again plausibly -- think Trump didn't violate the letter of the law on insurrection and incitement he therefore didn't do anything wrong at all.
He obviously encouraged a mob to intimidate Congress. He obviously took his sweet time discouraging the part of the mob that turned violent and, yes, insurrectionary. His actions in the lead up to Jan 6 and on that day were indefensible. His apologetics for their actions since are grotesque. It's all based on transparent lies in an effort to overturn a lawful election he clearly lost.
Meanwhile, if you take the position that if he merely approached incitement and insurrection that's okay, you have to accept that you'll leave a lot of people with the defensible inference that you don't really have *that much* of a problem with incitement, insurrection, or election-stealing ,and have no problem at all with Trump getting close to the line on all three.
After all, many Trump apologists concede that incitement and insurrection are criminal acts, they just insist Trump didn't provably cross the line into criminality. But they also weirdly insist Trump should face no political penalties for getting close. Call me crazy, but I think you can fall short of the standard for going to prison and still render yourself utterly unfit for public office.
It gets weirder still because many of the same people are also outraged at the notion that a president shouldn't be *immune* from criminal penalty for attempting such things. If you're implicitly willing to concede that if Trump *had* done these things that it would be bad, why on earth would you want the Supreme Court to rule that presidents -- all presidents -- should be exempt from breaking these laws?

@NBCSports I dispensed with my cable provider, because 90% of my viewing is on streaming apps. I miss watching the English Premier League on NBC sports. I subscribe to Peacock, but sometimes the games are only on NBC, and I have to wait for replays. Is there something I can do?
English

@AldiUSA I'm left very disappointed by a recent experience I had with your store: I ordered two cast iron roasting pans after seeing an ad; I scheduled to pick up a number of days after placing the order; I was told that my order was being fulfilled and so went to the store /1
English

@NickKristof Just read your column, and I was struck by the fact that you kept expressing doubt to the Israelis and Palestinians that their efforts could ever amount to anything, but your whole career is an example of persistence against overwhelming odds. I am grateful for it.
English

My reporting from the Middle East has been bleak, and I think it's all heading for a downward spiral. But for all that, I also saw an unexpected ember of hope -- and, boy, we need hope. My column: nytimes.com/2023/11/08/opi…

@PeterBeinart I loved your conversation with Ezra Klein and Spencer Ackerman, and your opinion article comparing the South African decolonization effort to Hamas.
Would you consider also posting on BlueSky? I would love to have access to your evolving thinking.

@hbomax I got HBO through my provider Frontier Communications. Recently I've had to connect to my provider every time I try to watch Max streaming. Is this a glitch or is this the new normal? If so, I am not a fan.

Our leaders must call for immediate ceasefire & deëscalation; demand protection of all civilians, secure the release of hostages; & tell the Israeli govt to turn on electricity in Gaza & allow humanitarian aid for Palestinians to enter!

@DrafthouseLA Thanks for attending to this. Happily, when I went to the theater yesterday, your concierge located my tickets under my first name. Not sure how that happened, but I got to watch Stop Making Sense, and I was in heaven!
English

@darkloom Hey there, unfortunately, it looks like your original transaction may have been left unfinalized. Please get in touch with our local box office at (213) 217-9027, to see if they can confirm your tickets before your showing.
English

@DrafthouseLA I ordered two tickets to the 220 showing of stop making sense; didn't receive a confirmation, discovered that the charge is still pending at my bank. What should I do?

English

@mck_beth I read some of your coverage that Ruth Michaelson posted on another site; would you consider also posting there (I have an invite if you need)? Also, please be careful.

@adrianmckinty @washingtonpost ... your short hand: more time for your humor and your heart. I thank you for enriching my life.

@adrianmckinty @washingtonpost I am so happy to be back in the company of Mr Duffy - it's now Mr, right? I have nothing bad to say about The Chain nor The Island, but they ain't Sean Duffy novels; I suppose that is a negative. I don't remember you being in such a hurry before, but I came to appreciate...
