OVER 40 PEOPLE SHOWED UP. Yesterday someone asked me, “What is the most underrated city for SMB/ETA?” Cincinnati is definitely a front runner. This turnout rivaled Toronto’s meetup. The 4th largest city in North America versus 64th largest city in U.S. shocking. This community has actually been built slowly over a long time by a guy named Dave Knox. I think a community like Cincinnati’s is a testament to what can happen when you start inviting like minded people into a room, over and over again, for a long time. Eventually people bring their friends, they bring partners, peers, and one after another a community is built. I highly encourage those who own SMB’s to start a local SMB group in your community where you get together plus provide advice, mentor, answer questions, etc via a group chat. We started this locally ~1.5 years ago and have ~80 people, most of you have seen me post about it that we do monthly IRL get togethers where ~10-30 people show up. We invite anyone just thinking about buying all the way through those that have already sold, and our only rule is “no selling”. We absolutely have vendors for SMB (lawyers, accountants, bankers, etc), but they are there to offer advice to help navigate or educate, or eventually buy their own. If people eventually choose to do biz together, that’s great, but the purpose of the group is to help those getting in and support those in the middle of it. It’s incredible how answering small questions and giving moral support is such a huge deal, all of us benefit from it Lots of people helped us to get where we are, we need to help others get there too 👊
