@RedBison 20years ago, rambling, I counted vehicles passing me, and found 11 of 12 had one occupant. That has not changed. And the drone photos of major highways often show massive volumes of traffic. We add so much to the atmosphe because of our western civ oil addiction.

I watched Trump’s speech at the Correspondents’ Dinner last night. It’s hard to articulate how sad it made me. Sad and embarrassed and exhausted. Here is the thing about a man who is a joke. He can’t tell one. People think humor is a talent. It isn’t. It’s a capacity. To make someone laugh you have to be able to laugh at yourself, and to laugh at yourself you have to step outside of yourself and see what everyone else sees. For one second you have to be just another person in the room. Most people can do this by the time they are nine years old. He has never once managed it. Not in fifty years of cameras. Not for a second. That is not a quirk. It is a symptom. The muscle that lets you tell a joke is the same one that lets you feel what another person feels. A man who cannot survive being laughed at cannot imagine being anyone but himself. He will only ever be generous when it is photographed. He will only ever be kind when it is filmed. There is a name for it. So he stood up there and did what he always does. He hit down. He made jokes about people’s weight. He made jokes about their intelligence. He made jokes about how women look. He read out the names of people he doesn’t like, and mocked them. Always mocking. And when no one laughed he blamed his speech writers. The cruelty dressed as humor has worn so thin. And for the 30% of you still in the cult who will inevitably call me a crackhead and blame it all on my Dad, all I can say is please, for the love of God, open your eyes. Wake the fuck up. Have some dignity. Have some pride. Joe Biden wasn’t standing at that podium last night. Donald Trump was. And at the end of it he put on a red hat that said Trump 2028 and told the room he was running again. No one laughed because everyone knows he has no intention of leaving. Just another joke at our expense.

I have been briefed on today’s horrifying stabbings on the Upper West Side, where an Asian man and a Jewish man were attacked. According to witness and victim statements, the perpetrator yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. I am relieved that both victims are in stable condition. The NYPD responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults—and I am grateful to the officers for their swift response. The NYPD’s initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. They are also evaluating these stabbings as potential hate crimes. These hateful and despicable attacks have no place in our city.

This afternoon, two people were stabbed in separate attacks on the Upper West Side. Both victims — an Asian male and a Jewish male — were removed to Mt. Sinai-St. Luke’s Hospital, and both are expected to survive.  The NYPD has arrested 51-year-old Raul Morales in connection with both assaults, and no other people are being sought. Detectives are continuing to work the case and determine motive, but according to victim and witness statements, Morales yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. The NYPD is currently evaluating whether this is a potential hate crime. While the perpetrator has no known mental health history with the NYPD, the initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. At this time there is no known link between Morales and either of the victims, nor between the victims and each other. I want to commend the bravery of a good Samaritan who led our officers to the location where the perpetrator was hiding, as well as our NYPD cops who brought an end to the incident without further injuries.

I just posted a reel listing the everyday things the Islamic regime in Iran would arrest or even kill a woman for doing, like going to a football stadium, swimming, dancing, showing a single strand of hair, riding a motorcycle, singing in public, protesting for basic rights, or simply existing freely as a woman. I was born and raised under that regime. I watched my friends get arrested. Some of them were raped in jail. I watched women get murdered in the streets just because they wanted freedom. Then I came to America. Here I walk into SoFi Stadium, sit wherever I want, hold a drink and a hot dog, laugh, and watch a football match without fear. Here I study for my PhD. Here I walk the streets freely, wearing whatever I want. Here I have rights that actually protect me. So many people in this country don’t appreciate that freedom because they’ve never lived a single day without it. Freedom is not free. Value it. Protect it. Never take it for granted. Because once it’s gone… it’s too late. Thank you, USA. For every single breath of freedom I get to take. ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇮🇷❤️

Now that the 2026 World Cup has come to an end, I want to share something that means everything to me as a woman born and raised in Iran under the Islamic Republic regime. We were always banned from entering football stadiums. If we tried, we risked being beaten, arrested, or even killed. The most pivotal moment for me was walking into SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and watching a football match from the stands for the first time. Here in the USA, women can go freely, sit wherever they want, hold their drink and hot dog, laugh, and truly enjoy the game, something I could never do in my home country. So many people in America don’t appreciate their freedom because they have no idea what it’s like to live under the Islamic regime in Iran or as a woman in Iran or Afghanistan. To anyone living in freedom: You don’t truly value these rights until they’re taken away. And once they’re gone, it’s too late.
