In my reference check zeal, i discovered candidate went to college with a friend. Fair or unfair to ask for a 20 year old reference? I lean towards unfair, but am easily swayed.

I am really not a fan of the government intervening in the semi market. We need to diversify the supply chain, but building subsidized white elephants is not the right way.

@dscheinm There are practicalities to having more living space that I can relate to. The trade offs are big, too big IMHO but that could change one day.

One reason people flee the Bay Area: status. I know a bunch of folks who felt they never got enough status here, but in more “normal” places, they could be higher status.
