@SiobhanParker11 Twice in my headship I had the pleasure’ of their company in SATs week. The day after the first inspection had ended I had the SATs Police turn up. I thought the LA advisor was joking when came to the front door: I naively thought he had come to say “Well done”! 😂

One thing I really don’t understand is why Ofsted come during SATs week? Surely it’s common sense to just miss that week?? 🤷🏼‍♀️

@RealGeoffBarton I am just retiring as a primary headteacher. Mr. Samson taught me too at Walton, albeit a little after you and in what would have been key stage 3 now. I always remember his kindness and genuine interest in every one of his pupils. An amazing teacher!

On this day in 1981 I received my A-level results. I think it’s fair to say that they were ‘mixed’. But I received a top grade in English, thanks chiefly to an extraordinary teacher, Roy Samson. He changed the direction of my life. And he’s here, staying with us, this weekend

@Headteacherchat Our governors have a ‘governors’ catering’ line built into the budget which buys all the staff tea and coffee and even runs to hot chocolate!

Anon post: How do schools account for tea and coffee expenses for staff within the budget? We've been informed that auditors won’t approve it—has anyone found a legitimate way to include it?

Our students gathered on the field this morning for Remembrance Day. We then played the Last Post and observed a two minute silence to reflect on the sacrifices made and to honour those who have served and fallen in war.

It's been an eventful day. First @VirginAtlantic checkin at MCO down causing us a 4 hour wait, then our flight has to turn back. Safe but tired and no sign of any baggage at the carousel

@RealGeoffBarton Also taught by Mr. Sampson at Walton back in the early 80’s. He doesn’t appear to have changed a bit! I loved his lessons and hope that I have managed to replicate some of his deep care for his pupils and passion for learning in my own career as a teacher and headteacher.

The view from here: Fifty years ago next month, I started secondary school. Between 1974 and 1981, I was taught by an extraordinary English teacher, Roy Samson. Because of him I read English and then became an English teacher. He’s staying with us here in Suffolk this weekend.

@abbyaug We have a bell that goes at 8.47am to signal the closing of the gates. It then allows any stragglers to quickly make their way to their classroom so that they are there when the register is called at 8.50am, the start of the school day.

On Tuesday 25th June, Ridgewood High School hosted 200 Key Stage 1 students from Amblecote, Greenfield, St. James's and The Ridge Primary schools for a 'KS1 Music Festival'. Our school choir performed to the younger students, showing them how wonderful singing can be!

@llewelyn20 I’ve had Ofsted twice in SATs week during my headship. The day after one of the inspections finished, we have a visit from the SATs police! 🤦‍♀️

We had Ofsted last week, it took every ounce of energy and focus for me and all the SLT. The thought of having an inspection in SATs week is fucking nuts. Why? There is no way we could have presented our school the way we did. It would have been a shambles.

We have some fantastic news, our Year 8 student Kelsea Wakelam recently competed for team England in the Muay Thai boxing Festival hosted in the in Thailand. Kelsea competed with 60 countries and we are over the moon to say that Kelsea came home with the gold medal for England! pic.twitter.com/R1FHL1D1S5
