"yo dawg, i heard you like RLMs and GEPA, so i put GEPA in your RLM so you can RLM while you GEPA"

We’re introducing HALO 😇 Hierarchal Agent Loop Optimizer HALO is an RLM-based agent optimization technique capable of recursively self-improving agents by analyzing their execution traces and suggesting changes. This work is inspired by the Mismanaged Genius Hypothesis proposed by @a1zhang and @lateinteraction earlier this month. tldr; we improved performance on AppWorld (Sonnet 4.6) from 73.7 --> 89.5 (+15.8) by giving HALO-RLM access to harness trace data and asking it to identify issues. The feedback from HALO surfaced failures in the harness such as hallucinated tool calls, redundant arguments in tools, refusal loops, and semantic correctness issues. Each issue mapped cleanly to a direct prompt update. We then fed these finding into Cursor (Opus 4.6), and asked the coding agent to update the underlying harness. We repeated this trace -> HALO-RLM analysis -> code update loop until the score plateaued. Today we’re open-sourcing the core HALO-RLM framework, evals, and data for further review.

Obsidian is weird: - 7 full-time employees - ~1 million users per employee - fully remote - 1 in-person meetup per year - no scheduled meetings - no stand-ups - deep focus is prioritized - our manifesto guides our product What works for us may not work for you.

AI doesn’t make engineering easier. It makes bad engineers delusional, average engineers noisier, and great engineers impossible to beat.

Happy Pi Day! In a certain sense, π is not a constant, but a variable. Using our usual Euclidean distance, it is 3.14159… but applying other L^p norms on ℝ², half the unit circle's perimeter will give other values. For instance, at p=1 (taxicab geometry), “π” = 2√2. At p ≈ 2.2, it's 3.20. Anyway, the video I was hoping to have out this day will be out closer to the 20th. Some call it “missing your deadline”, but I prefer to think of it as giving the L_{2.2} norm a little love.

The best argument for Rust in 2026 is not memory safety or performance. It is that AI writes better Rust than it writes C++. The compiler feedback loop is so tight that models self-correct in real time. Every error message is a free training signal. Rust was accidentally designed for AI-assisted development 10 years before anyone knew that mattered.

Expectation: the age of the IDE is over Reality: we’re going to need a bigger IDE (imo). It just looks very different because humans now move upwards and program at a higher level - the basic unit of interest is not one file but one agent. It’s still programming.

@nummanali tmux grids are awesome, but i feel a need to have a proper "agent command center" IDE for teams of them, which I could maximize per monitor. E.g. I want to see/hide toggle them, see if any are idle, pop open related tools (e.g. terminal), stats (usage), etc.

We just passed React on GitHub stars. 🦞 Let that sink in. A personal AI assistant built by a lobster-obsessed Austrian and an army of crustacean enthusiasts just outstarred the library that powers half the internet. We shipped 90+ changes today. They shipped a conference.

The most underrated advantage of LLMs: zero ego. Humans care about face. Tell someone very brutally they did a bad job, and it feels personal. On human teams, you have to manage emotions. With AI, I can just say: “Claude, your code sucks.” It apologizes, fixes it, and moves on.
