@uzairansar @devinmarch @Teknium @NousResearch That’s the thing, I would have my laptop plugged in and running 24 seven. And I would have it set up so it would never turn off. That’s why I feel conflicted. One just offers more privacy than the other. What else am I missing?

Literally. I have a persistent instance of Claude Code on my server and on my mac, with a mono repo syncthed between devices with Mutagen.
My mac is my server, and my server is my mac. The answer to do I use macos or linux is yes, lol.
My ports are firewalled and I live on Tailscale.
If I need to let the outside world in, it's through a Cloudflare tunnel or temporarily by spinning up a Tailscale funnel.
I also keep my mac reachable and persistently connected to the internet with a tiny little script the checks for a connection and connects to my personal hotspot when wifi drops.
It's so comfy.

@garrytan Caffeinate and make sure the screen goes off. Have claude write a script that checks for a wifi connection and connects to you personal hotspot when wifi drops. The compute is not happening locally so no heat issues, even in a bag. The same script will ping me if temps spike.

@MatthewBerman 6 months ago people would happily pay the $200. Instead of nerfing their models and trying to force people to pay more, they should have just focused on quality models and people would be willing to pay more for better stuff

i think a lot of people are going to be busier (and hopefully more fulfilled) than ever, and jobs doomerism is likely long-term wrong. though of course there will be disruption/significant transition as we switch to new jobs, the jobs of the future may look v different, etc.
